So a bit dissapointed...after porting from Cell C, they now announce they offering 100 minutes with 1GB data for R369. Aaagh..oh well, i guess there will always be better deals than the one i choose.

Their website only shows R469 with 100mb data for the S5 and R369 for the S4 with 1gb data. Would be awesome if they doing the s4 deal with an S5 now :D:)

Wishful thinking I reckon. S5 prices pretty standard and that's a bit cheap especially with 1gb

Hi,

I have currently applied for the Samsung S5 on Telkom Mobile, but am having difficulty finding out the specific model that they are selling.

Is it the LTE 16GB / 32 GB OR the
3G 16GB / 32GB?

None of the consultants via email or over phone can tell me which model......

Also if I am getting it online is there a connection fee? If so how much is it?
Will I have to sign anything or any debit order documents. So far I have done it online and have signed nothing, so I am assuming when they phoned me and i agreed that it was bascially a "verbal sign off"???

Please clarify?

Thank you

You will get the 32GB 3G Octo-core version.

When i checked with TM, they will only be carrying the 32GB 3G version for now. That means no LTE, no download booster and no Snapdragon.

The LTE version of the S5 wont work on Telkoms LTE network.

Its a mission to find out from the call centre people, best to either go to a store and ask to see the phone or even better, ask the Telkom Mobile rep on this forum. He has been extremely helpful when i had questions regarding Telkom Mobile. Wish more of the Telkom Mobile staff at stores and in the call centre could be as knowledgeable and helpful as him/her!

If vetting wasn't successful you probably won't hear from Telkom Mobile! Always follow it up though with the REP on this forum.

Hi MK8

Our S5 device doesn't support LTE as it doesn't work on the 2300MHZ frequency band. At the moment we only have the 32GB 3G version.

There is no documentation with an online contract, the only documents that the customer signs is the Proof of Delivery provided by couriers to customer. There is also no SIM and connection fees associated with the online contract.

Regards
Telkom Mobile

What does the Additional National Network Data mean?

You get all networks data which allows for usage on both MTN and Telkom Mobile. That is 150mb per month. Then you get 1GB of Telkom Mobile ONLY data.

So what is the 1GB of Additional National Network Data?

Hi cavedog

Please be advised that these are additional bundles on the Smart plan 100 package.

Additional Telkom Mobile Data: 1GB – Only work where there is Telkom Mobile coverage only, any time of the day.
Additional National Network Data: 1GB- These are ALL Network data and can be used any time of the day.

Telkom Mobile

So that means you are essentially getting 1.15GB [1GB + 150mb] of All networks data and only 1GB of Telkom Mobile data. That does not make sense?

It does, just read what you've written slowly.

The 150MB isn't "all-network data". It cant be used on the Telkom network, one has to switch to roaming on MTN before it would be used so why call it "all-network data"? If I am missing something please enlighten me.

Reception and data works perfectly even with roaming. Wife has plenty data carried over. Call quality is far better than Cell C. Very satisfied at the moment.
