Telkom fair use warning to uncapped LTE subscribers

To be fair, if you want to download the internet you should have a fixed line.
 
If anything this is good news, this will only make the service better since all those people who are using seed boxes to avoid the 50GB soft cap on torrents will be punished.

The ones who are going to complain will be exactly those who knew that they only have a 50GB cap for torrents but got this anyways and are trying to circumvent that restriction and thus they create a ****ty experience for everyone else by congesting the network.
 
Telkom was asked under what circumstances the AUP will be enforced and how it will affect subscribers, but it did not respond.

No surprises there.

Telkom’s plan to implement its AUP comes after subscribers complained they were getting slow speeds on Telkom’s LTE network.

Suppose easier/cheaper to manage individual accounts than increase spectrum.

Yeah, doesn't take much to bring Telkom's network crashing to the ground.

I thought these uncapped accounts were limited in numbers per tower so as to eliminate potential congestion?
 
Haven't received the SMS, but I'm doing on ave 200GB per month of which 90% is Netflix streaming. This ave has been stable for the last 5months.

I download 1 Suits ep per week over p2p. Apart from that, I don't really do torrents.

There is also the odd fmovies.to movie I watch, but that has been about two or three per month for the last 2months or so.
 
You can only get so many hard drives and servers and storage and and...I got tired of that, the space it takes, the power it uses. I got this and have been streaming all my viewing the last month. Has been fantastic. But last night it got slow. If people can just stop hoarding all the data and pay monthly and use it as you need it, things will get better. Most of them want to download half the web, yet not even watch 5% of it. Grow up. Get used to technology. Get over the hoarding mentality. If the world ends you will most likely be dead. You don't need to gather it all for the continuation of the human race. You will be dead.

I have shaken the hoarding mentality, and as with smoking I feel so much more free. I don't have to worry if I remembered to add a torrent/show or anything like that. I just climb on my Media Center, and I stream it when I want to watch it. Simple and easy.

lol man, that is almost EXACTLY where I find myself, stream it all ,lack of Suits is disturbing
. I agree that things like downloading movies constantly creates unnecessary strain on the system and should be limited. 50GB is fair on this protocol and they have known this from the start, I don't see why now that they are enforcing it, that it's an issue.

No, as usual mobile "broadband" becomes mobile internet. So much for someone on this forum's earlier contention that there's such a thing as wireless broadband. There just simply isn't because as soon as it's used like that it becomes normal internet. I don't blame the users for this because if we had a proper national operator that provided adequate fixed line services instead of marketing wireless "look-alike" ones as replacements there wouldn't be a need for this.
