There is no such thing as a router that supports a Fibre connection, Fibre goes into a modem and the modem connects to a router (should you need Wi-Fi)
Not so. The fibre goes straight into the router, router will be a single unit supporting WiFi, POTS and CAT5 connections, looks like Telkom is basing their FFTH on EPON, which makes sense
Some info for the guys who are interested.
Backhaul Fibre (probably 10Gbps) -> MSAN -> EPON Line Card -> Fibre -> Optical Splitter -> Fibre -> PON Router (ONT)
What they do it take a single strand of fibre capable of 1Gbps and split it using optical splitters (up to 64 times per fibre)
I have worked with EPON, super simple stuff actually.
I think what most people don't realize if that that ALL the new MSAN's support FTTx, this is done by simply adding a EPON linecard
MSAN can support normal analog telephone lines, ISDN, Diginet, PON, Active ethernet and VDSL all simultaneously depending on line cards installed.
