Personally I am wanting ADSL but it is way too expensive and so will rather wait than pay Telscum money they do not deserve.

Too much customer centric this and value added that. All we want is reasonable priced service!! No frills no fuss
 
I do not believe that we will get internationally cost competive broadband until something more dramatic happens that will put pressure on Telscum. Why should they change in the near future?
Although this forum is IMO interesting and educational as well as putting some pressure on Telscum, it is not enough. In fact, Telscum actively ignores us. While the guys responsible for strategic issues at Telscum have security of tenure and are not responsible for spending their own money, there is no serious pressure. Do you think that Papi et al really focus and are concerned about the issue? I think not. Sure, they will rabbit on about what they see as strategic issues but whether the strategy they adopt works or not is not really an issue. They can finesse the outcome of a strategy that does not work in order to keep shareholders more or less happy. I doubt whether they are in fact interested in the share price as much as company shareholders in private enterprises are.

The competitiveness of Telscum will only become an issue when they stare into the abyss, brought about by strong, international competition.:mad:
 
Telkom once again seem to miss the point completely!!

What people want isn't IPTV or portals or a thousand other gimicks! ALL WE WANT IS LOWER PRICES! :mad:

The new products Telkom are currently working on are Voice over broadband calling plans, Rich content like music, video on demand & gaming, multi choice video on demand, M-net on demand, IPTV, bandwidth on demand.

LOL! :D If I remember correctly they said broadband wasn't meant for gaming or other 'bandwidth-intensive' applications like video streaming. But now suddenly they want to implement it?

A good thing to do is increase the cap size first you morons and give us lower prices.
 
Did they mention anything about reducing voice call tariffs, and perhaps rolling out services to previously disadvantaged areas?

ALL AT A COST! labeled value added services, not unlike fixed line "value" services, be prepared to fork out $ per month for everything that should be free and be prepared to pay per byte at the same time, like line rental and the isp component + Video + TV + VOIP + Fax services + e-mail + + + + = $$$$$. You TELKOM it should be free, part of the internet! You will loose your clients like many a international operation experience ala BT when real competition comes our way. Even if it takes another 5 Years+. It will be bye bye TELSCUM! for sure!

Heard it all before, nothing ever happens.
If you read between the lines there it seems quite clear that very little (if anything) is going to be done on basic cost.
Its all spin about value added services (stuff they charge you plench for that you dont need).Taken a lesson out of MWebs book maybe,lol.
The talk there primary focus was not to say anything to upset the shareholders anymore. No relief insight for the consumer just yet.
 
They just don't get it... how can they add value to any service that is already rape, pillage and destruction.

FFS. Telkom I hate you. You are the most clueless entity we could ever be burdened with.
 
Basically you will be heaps of "value added" crap , ie things telkom cant sell and people dont want but it will be more of a burden and just add to our costs .

Mr September have you met Mr November 1/11 ? He is the person who said you are using to much of the multimedia voice and data and gaming and you will only have 3 gigs no more free local , are you now going to "knock off" Mr November ? and why ? Or is this just another way of saying you can still get the same stuff as you do now , with still the same cap , we just add more crap like a message service to your phone bill as value added ?

How difficult can it be to understand ?
1. Lower prices same as the rest of the developed world .
2. Higher adsl speeds same as the rest of the world .
3. Listen to your contumers .
4. Look at the capping system if any of the rest of the developed world .

Try the simple things first .
 
I am so sick of "value-added" - try give us some value in the first place!!!!

Only value that will mean anything to telkom is a disconnect.

Don't get too worked up over this manure. Have you not noticed that every 38 days or so Telkom's Goebbels department trots out some trained parrot to vomit out the same old piffle. Being masters of semantics you should have picked up by now that the concept is really called "Triple Pay".
