Is that even with trying the DNS in my router? not getting any popups here

All the addresses we're getting from the pool are SAIX DNS servers.

List over here.

And now Skype isn't working. But from what we're both getting, when we authenticate we get DNS servers in two different cities. I'm going to try the other Secondary DNS servers, the Recursive ones aren't working.

Strange that you cant get same ones as mine working :D, I see mine is Durban/Pretoria server which should be same for you being in PE

If it isnt the DNS' not sure what else it would be, since your tracert is relatively normal apart from timeouts.

Nearly 11pm. Been like this all day. Agree with earlier poster, seems to be google hosted or serviced sites worst affected. Any google.co.za search times out for me. Many local and int'l sites bombing out. PING has dropped from 651ms to about 111 to SAIX CPT. Judging from posts since last night in asstd forums here, this problem is wide-spread. Totally unacceptable is lack of info from either Telkom or Google as to what is going on. Tried BING (which is working) but zero, zilch, niks news as to what problem could be.

Try putting my DNS' into your router

Well, no surprises there. None of the other combinations worked properly. All starting in the 196.43 range, so here goes:

.50.190 - Working
.53.190 - Working

.54.190 - Not working
.34.190 - Slow, web pages time out
.38.190 - Same as .34
.42.190 - Same as .54
.45.190 - Same as .54

So affected servers are in Cape Town, Durbs, Rosebank, Jhb and Pretoria. Over on the Telkom Network sub-forum, about four Links are down with a Severity 2 status - means no throughput or slow throughput. Looks like its also in the areas of the affected DNS servers. We'll see whats happening soon, I guess.

Also still an issue are Google sites and servers. Can't get google.co.za to load now.
 
Would this affect download speeds or is it just a DNS issue?

Nevermind looks like i'm getting throttled till 12pm now. F*&ck you telkom.

It definitely appears that SAIX had some kind of international network fault between 09:00 and 15:00. Everything seems to be back to normal with routing and latency but there could be something else that has not correctly recovered.
 
Mine has become worse can't access international, all web pages time out.
 
Cannot access gmail, is there a problem somewhere?


Sorry I have not followed the thread and was gonna make my own one til I saw this thread.
 
thanks for the DNS info..changes mean that I can browse fine again through 8ta..
 
And expect to wait 3-4 days for Telkom to fix faults... that's the new standard they've set... they've become so incredibly slack they are even more inefficient than Home Affairs now.
