Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

All I know is that if the TI uncapped tide has turned for MickeyD, then we all better run for our lives.
Uncapped apocalypse is here...
MickeyD NEVER has TI problems ;)
I wouldn't say NEVER.... but of late the service is degrading. It could be linked to TI moving away from SAIX and going the IPC route or it could be teething problems with Telkom Wholesale/Retail split but I care not. I pay my monies and request a decent QoS.

I'm not unrealistic w.r.t. to an uncapped service but I browse during the day and DL during the "free time" (00h00 - 07h00), while my kids game online at all hours.

Even when I kick my kids off the network, the service does not improve.

When my service drops, I insert my Afrihost login details (yes, capped, so what?) and I get line speed again.

This points squarely at a TI issue. That it could be Telkom Wholesale causing the degradation is NOT MY PROBLEM.

BTW... I am about 1km from the exchange (a DSSU), linked to an IMAX that has a metro ethernet link back to the DPSU.

Which brings us to COMMUNICATION....

I (and many others here) really appreciate ranger's regular posts here but it is unfair that he absorbs the brunt of our disapproval.

These issues need to be escalated, so if ranger is willing to disclose where the problem lies, I will make it my mission to escalate it right up to Board level.

This cannot continue...

+1000

Longest I've run afrihost now. It's been properly borked.

Has Telkom Internet issued any official statement or apology??

We're having to buy ADSl to keep going.

Everything looks back to normal this morning, maybe MickeyD's threat to cancel got the TI top brass worried :D

Torrents ran smoothly all night at their preset limits but I can't comment on browsing (better things to do :)). I'd really like to know what caused the problems these last few days because it's most unusual for my part of PE (041360). One thing that really annoys me about TI (other than 10210) is the total lack of official feedback

FYI for anyone looking to move accounts; I use Web Africa & axxess capped accounts for backup and both have performed flawlessly during this period.

I'd wait for evening peak time before breaking out the champagne.

I definitely agree. Our ADSL has been unusable during peak times the past week... Got a Afrihost guest account and the speeds are fine. Definitely cannot be exchange congestion as it would have been slow as well.

My TI account has been suffering the past week.

Last night was especially unbearable. MyBB pages took well over 2 minutes to load, was getting 200-300+ ms playing CS:GO online.

Not happy :(

Please can somebody assist? I have the basic dobroadband 2mb product and have used a total of 42Gig so far this month. The usage graph is still in the green around the middle of the band. At what level is acceptable to Telkom as not being a power user? Thanks in advance.

You can easily get 150GB+. Schedule your big downloads between 00:00-07:00.

There is no fixed value, if you do big downloads most of the time outside of the above times you are gonna reach the power user stage earlier than someone that schedules from midnight. You can carry on with normal browsing and stuff during the day with very little effect.

Browsing just went t*ts up but downloads etc are fine, this is the weirdest QoS I've ever seen - ranger, if you're reading this, please comment.

Switched to axxess, waiting for VPNs to come up - mutter

This is exactly the same symptoms KZN had when IPC capacity started dwindling, eventually other things will also get slower if not upgraded timeously.

See http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...IPC-faults?p=13209728&viewfull=1#post13209728

and http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...back-(Pt2)?p=12987801&viewfull=1#post12987801 you can follow it as it got worse.

Sad state of affairs when you have to use your emergency backup account just to post on a forum.
