Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

So credit is due...

Sunday 10-Feb-14: Tweet @TelkomZA that I'm having issues, 0.4mb speedtest.net / tracert stuffed, on 4mb TI uncapped.
Monday 11-Feb-14: @TelkomZA requests line details, tell him I believe its congestion (afrihost / WA trial accounts better but not optimal), says he has processed the request.
Wednesday 15-Feb-14: @TelkomZA advises that there is no progress yet but provides me with fault ref + DSLam ref (this was after-hours).
Thursday 16-Feb-14: Calls me and confirms that DSLam move has been done. Must check when I get home (at work) if there is any difference.

I know it may not be fixed but big thanks to @TelkomZA. On the ball, responsive, and very friendly to say the least. Just amazing how 10210 & @TelkomZa are world's apart.

is there any place I can see how my costs are broken down? I got a special when signed up for Telkom 1 meg uncapped and pay between R360 - R430 every month, don't know why it fluctuates.

Anyways I want to see the cost breakdown because want to move to different ISP.

Any help?

I have been monitoring this thread daily in the vain hope that at least someone from Telkom would step up and clarify what exactly is going on but as mentioned previously the reps do appear to be gagged at the moment so we are being kept in the dark which is incredibly frustrating and annoying. I suppose if sufficient guys exit Telkom and go elsewhere perhaps our patience will be rewarded with a better internet experience down the line when they have lost a large percentage of their client base:whistle:.

... when they have lost a large percentage of their client base - think you'll find the VOD clients form a very small percentage of TI's users and that as they move to other ISPs, TI gamers latency problems will improve.

I'm still of the opinion that Telkom (with or without TI) are working on a special package for VOD traffic, time will tell.

They should then also work on Gamers packages as well as Download-ers Packages.. TBH i'd personally like them both in 1 package.

However, honestly - since the beginning of all these issues, i've still been running perfectly (Side note, i got a 1gig trial with AH for my gaming, until the latency issue is resolved) my downloads are scheduled to begin at 23:00 and ends @ 07:00 and then @ 07:05 my PC shuts down until about 12pm when my Mom in law boots up again.

All in all, i get about 10Gigs a night, my sickbeard adds my shows, and by night time when i want to watch, they already updated and everything.... So again, everything is just PEACHY on my side!

Yet some people choose ISP's that are crap then they work up the list to the better ones when they arnt satisfied.
... usually based on price - people expect Ferrari performance at Fiat prices (and for the prices to come down each year).

I am going to bugger off from them after next month. Apparently I have to have the account for at least 3 months in order to keep the router... I have had to purchase an extra capped account from Web Africa for the time being.

Oh snap. My line was installed on the 15th of Jan, but I wasn't made aware of the three month mandatory.
I phoned them just now and cancelled, would the lady have said anything in regards to that ?
She did say someone would phone me to confirm the cancellation.

Escalated the call I logged on the 1st of Feb for slow speed.

Used a couple of choice words when phoning to cancel yesterday.

Today a tech phones and said they made changes on the DSLAM.

From ping higher then the Governments weekly booze bill to this .....

Why do we have to act like idiots to get service in this country

Well thats what they told me when I ordered. Whether or not they actually do what they say is another story. Is that not how they work there, say one thing but don't follow through with it?
