Decent internet. What's that?

Hi Everyone. I'm currently on a 20M 50G TI package. As of Sunday I started using Netflix. 3 days into the month and almost 4G's down!

I don't see my Cap lasting very long!!

I'm thinking of moving to 10M uncapped TI package.

Question is how many Gigs can one download before the AUP kicks in?

All I can say for certain is somewhere over 430GB.

Got a suprise today trying to access a coffee forum, was denied access, as my Telkom IP was regarded as a Spammer IP ... , let it go ... :(

Please provide details (by PM if you wish) and we will see what we can do. Unfortunately AfriNIC allocates/allocated to South Africa and Nigeria (and other African countries) from the same blocks, so some people just end up blocking 105.*, which affects us and MTN/Afrihost and probably others, but not necessarily networks sitting on big blocks in 196 or 41 or 165 or 197 etc.

Dslam is severely congested, latency all over the place before ipc-up*.telkomsa.net, where we can only influence from that point on.

I know :( Been like that since September now. Given up all hope.

Do you have any idea when dslam's are being upgraded? I'm connected to the Epping CNE (WEPP03) exchange which I assume services the whole of Epping 2. Thought it would be an important exchange :/

If you have don't have an open fault please log one online and PM the fault number to me and I will see if we can escalate it.

Logged numerous faults. Had one techie come to my house, listen to the noise on my line and then say he'll move me to a different dslam in the exchange. Made no difference.

Other fault got closed after someone did a port reset. Made no difference either obviously :/

I'll log a fault now and send you the number. Thanks ranger!

I'm battling to stream 720p content (yes youtube etc), 480p is fine. Does this mean kzn is running out of IPC capacity again?

EDIT: Problem sorted, thanks ranger ;)

Can't even stream 240p content today, video starts then stops, buffers, starts stops agan, buffers every few seconds, rinse & repeat. Some times it never carries on after stopping, just the spinner going.

Turned router off for few mins, rebooted pc no go.

Is it better now? Only youtube would have been affected. There is a transmission failure that for some reason has affected the youtube feed.

Is Youtube broken in Kzn? Ive been trying to watch a few videos for hours now. Hope it gets fixed for E3 tonight :(

Hi ranger,

Yes thanks. The videos that do load are running fine at 720p (2Mb/s) BUT many videos don't even start anymore, I just get a spinner and after a while that snowy screen with "An error has occurred. Please try again later" message.

Will give it a bit of time for things to settle, hopefully the videos not loading issue comes right.
