Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Looks like international sites don't finish loading and no google sites load for me - local seems fine

Yup, struggling to do anything line with my Telkom Account. Had to switch to another ISP.

Ditto. At work.

Only Skype and my emails (very very slow) seems to be working on Telkom.

Switched to my private WebAfrica account now and all is fine.

Same here, could get onto vula.uct.ac.za, titracker and telkom website.
Switched to backup to get here.

Same. Cant access youtube and mybroadband. The mweb site is accessible. Using Telkom mobile at the moment.

DNS seems to be resolving again.

It would be nice if TI could include a network status on their home page - doubtless wishful thinking

Is anyone else having problems in the last couple days with NNTP / newservers? I did some tests last night and sabnzbd keeps timing out when using my NextGenNews account with TI (it does eventually reconnect, but then it'll time out again in 30 minutes, rinse and repeat), but with WebAfrica or Afrihost, everything is okay. The connection never times out. Really strange. :wtf: I'm using an SSL connection if it makes any difference.

My connection, which usually syncs at 6Mbps, is chugging along at 3Mbps. Reset my router, same thing. Really not arsed calling Telkom now...

What DNS are you using?

We want to communicate more, but the call centre doesn't like us sharing information with customers directly before sharing with them, but when we share specific information with them it takes time to be distributed, and usually after notifying them when it is resolved, they end up using the issue for days after it is resolved in order to not look at customer-specific issues.

We had multiple transmission failures affecting the Gauteng site, while we were doing some other non-customer-impacting network changes (but they left us without some visibility on the network, which meant that it took longer to see the full impact). We spent most of the afternoon reporting faults, getting capacity moved, and troubleshooting some routing problems.

If I remember correctly, failures occured at 12h35, impact to customers in other regions was identified at 14h12. Last routing issues fixed around 15h40, IPC capacity moved to the working links by 17h00, some fine-tuning done to make the most of the available capacity until about 17h45. Experience for users in the North deemed adequate at 18h00.

All the affected links just came back up a few minutes ago, we will have to clean up what was changed a bit later tonight.
