Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Phew, ranger didn't take the severance package. :p

Hey ranger, is the TiTracker working 100% now? I'm still getting internal database errors every now and then, and my usage bar isn't moving again.

Ok. Reboot (unplugged and replugged DSL line for good measure) seems to have brought the speed / use fullness back.

Good luck!

What DNS are you using?

We want to communicate more, but the call centre doesn't like us sharing information with customers directly before sharing with them, but when we share specific information with them it takes time to be distributed, and usually after notifying them when it is resolved, they end up using the issue for days after it is resolved in order to not look at customer-specific issues.

Hi Ranger, pleased to see you're still with us :)

All sites use automatic DNS, in my case here in PE I was getting the following at 13:00:

remote IP address 105.227.2.1
primary DNS address 196.43.54.190
secondary DNS address 196.43.38.190

I understand your problem with Network Status and the clowns at 10210. As you say, they would be blaming resolved problems for clients current problems for days after the event :(

EDIT: :o Boy is this embarrassing, had a torrent downloading all day on my laptop :o

Streaming has gone to the dogs, can't even stream 480p youtube content, everything just buffers

Anyone else in KZN or elsewhere having issues with streaming?

Getting a very fluctuating 10-20KB/s from the saix ftp server.

Looks like everything went to hell in a hand basket again.

Anyone having major problems on TI? Getting speeds of around 1-5 kb/s in PE. Can't even do a speedtest.

EDIT: On second thought, the problem might be on my side. Having the same issue on WA, but not Afrihost.

The problem is I think - Telkom is doing a **** load of upgrades - BUT - the old problem of one department not talking/co-operating with the other ... , is what is causing most of the hiccups - and somewhere inbetween are the geniune failures and the normal F'ups in the field.

Bugger up for them is - the end result is a lot of pissed off clients ...

Which is not good for Telkom ...

A case in point : My Brother in Law got 4mbps ADSL line - in 3 months they could not get it to go over .5mbps and the DSLAM is not that far. Move to a crappy Wi-Fi ISP which is giving between 8 - 13 mbps - took 2 days to put in and it worked from start ... , Telkom lost a client with a lot of word of mouth potential ... , guess who is reaping the benefits of that word of mouth ...

I think the problem is also that they laid off 3000 staff members. ;)
