Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

i do...but telkom says no ports available. My neighbour has the LTE and claims his getting avg 44 mb down

Keep you current line, change to a capped account and ask for an Integrated data SIM. It will allow you to use your DSL data on the LTE network. :)

I see plenty of confusion in the last while in this thread.

Telkom Internet is an ISP, just like Afrihost, Axxess, MWeb, Crystal Web, Web Africa, etc.

Telkom Internet do NOT have a network. They lease the network from Openserve.

Openserve owns, maintains and install services on their own network.

Hmm, not 100% accurate


We don't operate an access network. We own and operate as much or more of a network than Afrihost has operated for them by other companies.

We offer services on multiple access networks, Telkom Wholesale/Openserve, Vumatel, Waterfall Access Network, Telkom Mobile (using an APN) with more coming.

We don't lease a network from Openserve, we buy services (e.g. IPC, transit, layer 2 services etc.) from them.

Happened to me a couple of years back, it was caused by a corroded joint on the drop-line from the pole and was fixed promptly. Common problem at the coast and the techs know what to look for.
 
i just got a 'well yes there is a line fault but nothing we can do so be happy with 2mb' this morning. Odd thing is my neighbour has a 10 mb adsl line connected to the same exchange...im hoping for a miracle
 
ANother weird thing the phone rings and the internet goes down.
and before anyone says POTS filter :)
if someone calls or we call out it doesnt go down - randomly the phone just rings (and just one ring) and the internet goes down for a second and comes back up.
 
Out of curiosity, what is the FUP on Telkom's uncapped 10MB package?

I've had the account since Oct '13 and have never been capped, I think the most I've done in a month is around 600GB but I do make use of Night Surfer for torrents.
 
Great, was like bargaining on a 500GB cap.. Just came from a WIFI ISP that only limited me to 150GB FUP a month before throttling me. So I'm kinda curious to see how my streaming, Xbox one and PS4 downloads will hold up now!
