try to schedule any heavy downloads after midnight to 7 Am, from experience that allows you a lower change of hitting the unknown FUP

WTF is this crap!?!?! Just got this account today, with 3 streams under my belt and I barely get 1.5Mb on speed test.. What a piece of **** account.

Guess its time to load up the old trusty Afrihost account.

No, not sure of exact cause, but a municipal failure should not result in impact.

It was a failure of at least one UPS feed. In theory that shouldn't have had impact as all cabinets have 2 separate UPS feeds and all equipment has half of their power supplies connected to each feed reaching the cabinet.

It may be that the remaining feed was unable to supply the budgeted power, or that additonal line cards that were installed in the past frlew weeks have increased consumption above the budget, or that 2 feeds failed simultaneously but that will be determined by the RCA.

Also, why were the Telkom customers on the Vumatel network also impacted?

Vumatel cuatomers in Gauteng are backhauled to our Gauteng site.

Well Telkom is usually ok for downloading, gaming and latency sensitive use cases are better off at just about any other ISP.
 
Anyway to see what I downloaded so far on an uncapped package? would like to keep track.
 
Two days later, and no reply from a moderator..

I'm getting a maximum 2-7Mbps on a 20Mbps line, when I get anything... most of the time it's down to 0.

Subsequent Speed tests have been returning "Latency test error".

I've sent a fault report to Telkom... will see if something gets done.
