Thanks yeah I thought as much, as soon as my line is activated Im requesting a migrate.Hey K,
Short answer forever.....
After reading the post regarding the promo this morning now telkom is not sure what speed is actually supported in my area....or the consultant i spoke too isnt sure either way its a nightmare with telkom for me....
Just signed up, R799 includes the DSL line, Uncapped Data, and the Analogue Line, so you only paying 26 rand more in total... however the call center said that you won't be able to downgrade to a lower speed line (DSL) for 24 months, if you take a month-2-month it will stay that price after the promotion period... I'd confirm this though and please provide feedback if you can...
The consultant that CALLED ME said it can be month to month and the price will stay 799. I have the conversation recorded. Damn Telkom....Who can confirm that the price will remain at R799-00 after the promotion is over? I have spoken to 4 different telkom agents and got 3 different replies
1. Price won't stay at R799-00 after the promotion. It will go up and 'back to normal'.
2. Price will remain at R799-00 but only if you are on a fixed 24months contract! After the 24months the price will go back to normal.
3. If you are on a month to month than you MUST call in each and every month to renew if you want to keep the promotion going otherwise you'll be bumped-up to the "normal" price.
Who can confirm the above???

I'd double check that, 4Mbps = R299 and 10Mbps = R425The upgrade is atleast free, so will wait and see......
Your routers' max attainable rate should also give you an indication of what your line is capable of.Update: im 2.7 km from the exchange so 10 mb is not possible... waiting for confirmation what can reasonably be expected....
My bad, I thought you were talking about a straight line upgradeHi MickZA,
Heres the Promo i am on:
https://secure.telkom.co.za/today/shop/home/plan/dsl-uncapped-internet/
Uncapped DSL Internet is fast, steady and has absolutely no limits.
Up to 10Mbps ADSL
Uncapped internet usage
Landline Rental included
Month-to-Month with no FREE modem
24 month contract with FREE WiFi enabled modem
@799 for 24 month contract
Yikes, your stats doesn't look promising. It is a pity OpenServe don't replace horrible lines first.Hi LaraC,
If only Telkom Knew that.....according to my router its 4.5 MB.
However ive never been close to that. My Line attenuation is @ 55.5 DB and my SNR is @ 6.1.
Do you have Telkom LTE coverage in your area?Yeah been fighting with Telkom for most of the two weeks ive had the line now.
However as you might have seen their theory is:
If you only get 2 MB on a 4 MB bad line. Upgrade to 10 MB line and you should get atleast 4 MB on a bad 10 MB line....
Lets wait and see......
