Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

It seems to be my gaming going through india (gw2, ps2), everything else seems not to be, so, not sure why it is, and no one at telkom can tell me why my gaming going straight from here to india where it lags to all hell, and not my browsing etc

But hey, I'm not tech educated, so can only say what I see. Tracert to my mmo of choice (gw2) take a right turn and go the long way round to frankfurt through india where I'm getting bad lag, gw2 constantly disconnects me due to it so can't get anything done, but other things I've tested go straight up top with no lag (usual 200ms approx)

Just tried my wow account, same thing, huge lag going through india, yet site doesn't go through india, so why are all my eu gaming servers going through it? Just trying to understand how these things work

If I'm not mistaken, Twitch.tv uses a CDN that disables ping requests as a method of alleviating stress from their servers. This is also a simple way to prevent a mass attack of pings (DDOS)

Well that would explain the time out errors, but still not really why it goes to India first. I'm in the same boat as you that I can't watch twitch at any quality. I just hope it gets fixed before the Dota 2 International qualifiers.

What the heck is going on? Had to switch to my free Afrihost account to have working internet.

Is it maybe to do with cooling off? Maybe when they ring back you changed your mind. I know a few companies I have come across that do that.

But nobody verifies when you want to sign up? Only when you want to leave? I still think its BS.

Just watch it from within dota2 client, Not all tournaments require a ticket.

Is Telkom killing all of my direct downloads???
Youtube streams okayish, but when it comes to downloads then its failure after failure.

I'm using another account for the 30 days I'm waiting for my cancellation. Enjoy your free money, you thieves, but I'm not touching that account again. Since I've been using the other account the internet is just a dream. I forgot what normal internet felt like, pages loading in an instant. Got so used to those terrible speeds.

I mainly use internet for gaming on Xbox in particular. Whats weird with Telkom is that even though a network test on the Xbox returns an Open NAT, I can't join certain games or party chats. When I switch over to my Afrihost free 1 gig account it all works.

Youtube buffers constantly, pages take ages to load, downloads crawl, PSN is slow, Xbox LIVE is broken, etc.

Yes the Afrihost account is unshaped I'm guessing, but the service from Telkom just isn't meeting my needs anymore. Was on the phone for 45 mins to cancel.

I'm just going to get the Afrihost 75 + 75 gig account and cut costs on Panado. I never really exceed 75 gig a month anyway.

Cheers Telkom.

Is anybody here happy with their Telkom uncapped 2/4mb?

My sister is getting ADSL installed and is likely to go with 4mb, just due to the ease of paying one bill. Is this a terrible mistake?

Usage: Streaming, mild torrenting, no gaming.

It's crap. Absolute crap. Has been for most of the year.

I agree.
Unless you want to use NZB because then it's awesome.

Bravo Telkom, prioritizing pirate mediums over paid streaming services.

I was very happy with mine until Sunday. Nothing works for me now, including browsing. Had to switch to Afrihost.

Many people in here can atest to the fact that I was the biggest supporter of Telkom, often arguing how good they were due to my amazing line quality.

Although in the last few months it has been nothing short of unuseable.
Folks in here mention shaping yet this was not the previous experience.

When a line is shaped to an extent that it is unuseable during peak times then it's a waste of time and money.
And note I didn't say HD content streaming 24/7 or anything.
I'm just looking for 2Mb streaming capabilities on a 4Mb line.
Something that Telkom can no longer offer.

Ranger mentioned a while back that you cannot compare capped vs uncapped, this confuses me.
Why would I not compare the 2 to get an idea of what my line should perform like?
Why in the last few months has the uncapped service dropped to such a bad level that I am forced to spend extra money just to utilize a service?

And as mentioned previously, I am by no means a power user having used only 60GB.
So then why am I shaped to unuseable levels?

Wow, ok things have changed then. I shall advise her to try Afrihost. Thanks y'all.

No. NZBs are crap too. Even when using sunnyusenet which is a paid service.

Basically Telkom is for when you want to use the internet between midnight and 6AM. And not for torrents as last night my torrents were going at 5 kilobytes per second at 1AM.

If you ever want to use the net during time when normal people are awake, look elsewhere. And the support on MyBB is also crap. Despite the appearance that ranger is helpful, he actually isn't. Just my opinion of course.
