Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Have you tried disconnecting all phones/faxes/burglar alarms and connecting your router directly to the phone line.

I am posting this from my Telkom test account now. Getting 80% of line speed on it (it's unshaped). Only my uncapped account isn't working. Afrihost 1GB is working just fine. It's nothing to do with my line, unfortunately (then I might be able to fix it).
Lots of people seem to have been having this. You can ping and tracert a server, but no data is retrieved when loading a website. Also, I can watch source twitch quality on the test account, whereas the uncapped account could barely load medium. I've only downloaded 150gb this month, so I can't be throttled.

Tracert to google.co.za on test account:

It's the exact same route. I'm just not receiving any data.

EDIT 2:
I just did a full reset of my router (D-Link DSL2750U) and set it all up again. Might just be fluke that it's now suddenly working again (resetting might not have been the cause of the solution). I don't understand why this keeps happening every couple days though.

Ooh. Downloads super slow again. Just like last week Sunday this same time. Download speed varying between 5KB/s and 28KB/s.

What is up with those douchebags

I have switched to Afrihost now and immediately get full line speed.

Had the same problem. Also suspected the router and also did a full reset. Same make and model. Now everything is working fine.

Tried skype to canada and could only see a blur on my screen. Switched to 3G and the picture was clear. I would cancel my ADSL but often 3G's also porked.

Yea I just streamed Netflix movie on my 4mb

Had issues for months but today it seemed ok

Things are good my side.
Touch wood.

I've done 177 GB this month, with the bar still sitting in the center and is still green.

your statement doesn't mean much unless you also state what speed account you have. :erm:

Ambroseg1 - are you still battling with nzb downloads?
I still get Full line speed 24/7 using Usenetbucket.

I tried the usenetbucket thing, and it works. But to be honest, not happy about paying for the service on top of my account to Telkom.

Yes. Already pay R550 per month for uncapped internet. Having to fork out so much as 1c extra simply doesn't sit right with me. especially if the extra money is simply a backdoor to use the uncapped internet the way I expect the R550 to cover.

This was exactly my feeling on this issue as well (although the 1100 days retention does help). Shouldn't have to pay the use 100% of my available line speed.

Usenet running fine (SAIX news server) but everything else is crawling. Can't watch videos on youtube, stream a sports game. Hell I've been waiting for a .gif to load for the past 10 mins.

Absolutely pathetic.
