Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Did you go into a branch? That's the best.

No its not. Branches (I assume you mean the Telkom shops) cannot assist any longer with billing issues. They merely allow you the use of their landline in store to call 10210.

Telkom stores are useless, saw an old man on crutches standing in line to report a fault. No chairs for him to sit down... Freaking sad place that.

Telkom have engineered a system whereby I am able to browse during peak hours but it is virtually impossible to download anything or stream anything unless it is after 11pm at night. Then it performs at 2Mps but during the day is is virtually back to the bad old days of dial up speed. It may be time to find another ISP.

Yesterday was great for me. 230kb/s on my 2Meg line. Streaming wasn't too great, which is odd, but P2P was flying!

Downloads have been going good the last few days, but gaming is pathetic on local servers even.. servers where I used to get 35-38ping stable are now a constant 85-100..

Local is good my side for once. 25-60msec, but international is shocking. 800-3000Msec instead of 200-250msec.

My 2Mb/s TI is going like the clappers:

Last Result:
Download Speed: 1917 kbps (239.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 426 kbps (53.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 23 ms

My Telkom 2mb uncapped is slow as hell tonight. Think 4 months of this chit is enough. Will go to Telkom store this weekend and cancel.

Whats your line like?

Please run the second tool in my sig and post results here :-)

Couldn't access the internet for the past hour or so. It seems to be fine now. Ran Zertops tool and got these results

Zertop's "Is it my Line" Results
Basic Report:
Your average ping was 24ms
Your maximum ping was 71ms

Looking at your average ping, your line seems to be running perfectly :-)
Looking at your maximum ping, however, it seems as though there could be a slight intermittant issue on the line. If required, please post the results to a forum post.

All around looking okay...ish.

That mix ping is an issue :/

TelkomZA said I was being migrated to another DSLam and that it would take about 2 days.

2 weeks later; nothing

Basic Report:

Your average ping was 41ms
Your maximum ping was 46ms

Looking at your average ping, your line seems to be a bit dodgy :/ This may account for any slow speeds you may be experiencing. However, it could just be related to a high-latency home network (ie... Wi-Fi). If you feel the need, please post the results (at the end of the program) into the forum for advice

Yea this seems dodgy :/ I think you should try reporting a line fault :-(

How does the account perform with a free gb from Afrihost/Axxess or WebAfrica?
