Google usually isn't international ...

There is an issue we are aware of, Gauteng seems to be worse affected by interaction between some traffic management policy and caching. A change is planned for just after midnight to address this for Gauteng, other regions to follow in the next few days if Gauteng shows improvement. This change should also address some of the other weirdness to some Google services.

No, because this is not the way it is supposed to be. Until January it was not like that, but a workaround provided by our vendor for a serious problem required that we artificially limit p2p during peak times. We are actively working towards removal of this workaround.

However, the first implementation that removed it had unintended consequences due to changes made in other components in the network since January, so it was reverted, and the changes will now be implemented incrementally. The first of these incremental changes (which addresses the changes made to other components) was completed in Gauteng this morning. However, some other software upgrades had been planned to take place from the coming weekend until the end of the month, so the other 2 changes will have to wait until then.

In the other regions we are at the limit of the transmission capacity, so we are unable to order more IPC capacity even though the KPIs we use for adding IPC capacity were reached a few weeks ago. We started the process to get more transmission capacity for Gauteng and Cape Town a few months ago. The installation of the new transmission links is almost complete in Gauteng. In Cape Town, Wholesale/Networks required more equipment, which is now in country but not yet installed.

Howzit Ranger. How is capacity down here in Knysna? We count as part of Eastern Region, yes? I have no issues with TI, in fact I rarely do. I'm assuming KPI's reflect all is reasonably good?

So these changes you talk about ("limiting P2P" which manifests itself as a block here in the cape) were implemented as a workaround, and nothing to do with the FUP?

I recall some press releases on this forum about how online gaming was bad, and torrents were going to be restricted. Were they not from TI?

And Telkom will revert to how it was in January and before?

You guys work via CT as far as I'm aware.

TI has IPC connectivity (POPs) in JHB, CT & DBN

Google services are down again. Its happening 3-4 times a day.

Once again you are so keen to troll, you aren't reading the post or the context.

TI announced that torrents and gaming were not desired, which is why they implemented a very tough shaping regime.

Now ranger says it was not meant to be like that.

Whilst I hope the service does revert to how it was, let's not confuse why and how it came to be like that.
