Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

There are other isp's in South Africa...Ever thought of trying them out?

Yes that is how im able to post, thank god. Im warning others because i know people search these forums before getting themselves a new ISP. They must see that telkom is useless else they will fall into the same trap.

You relate your experience with telkom, which you say is crap, and you are fully entitled to do so. But that's your experience. Mine is 99% good. I'm very happy with my TI 4 mb uncapped account, and my Telkom 10 mbps line. I also use 3 different TI capped accounts and an Afrihost capped account on the line. They all perform well, the capped accounts at full line speed 24/7. So I'm afraid I can't agree with you that "telkom is useless".

If you want to become a crusader, saving people from falling into "the big black telkom hole", perhaps start another thread. This thread is for TI uncapped user's feedback, and at the beginning it says:

Mod_note: These threads are clearly designed/intended for customers to provide feedback to their respective ISPs - not for disgruntled former customers to vent, not for other ISPs to promote their services, etc - and, one hopes, for the relevant ISP to respond.

Ping works. Trace route works. Lookup works. But no throughput. Aaarrghhhh. All I'm getting iwaiting for the website

Nope. Doubt it is our account. We are still in the green according to the tracker. The odd thing is some websites are okay. Others like Facebook is dead. I thought it might be an international problem. But Slashdot is working.

Can you PM me your username if you are still experiencing the problem? I'll try and grab some stats or see if a vendor engineer is available to look (in between bathing kids etc.)

I'm in Cape Town and at around 8pm I could not do anything. Noticed it when the wife was trying to make a payment with Absa internet banking. I did a speed test and got 0.16 down and 0.25 up, changed to Webafrica and could use the internet again.

So after my last post here, my current ISP has officially gone from good/decent -> absolutly crap.

Buddy of my borrowed me his acc details to test the waters at Ti, must say, really impressed.

Making the move over to Ti by the end of the week. All i need to find out is applying online or instore the quickest to get connected

Not sure what TI were up to this morning but all of my VPN tunnels went down around 08:00 and after they came back I noticed that latency to most of my sites has improved. Speedtest.net latency to CTown, J'burg and international is also better.

Speed issues on my end again. Only done about 25GB in total this month on my 4mb Uncapped. Anyone else in Durbs having issues ?

Last Result:
Download Speed: 562 kbps (70.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 387 kbps (48.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 64 ms
