Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

So I upgraded from 50Gb softcap to 10Mbps uncapped and it was one of the best moves I made. I don't even feel the difference except for not having to even worry about data now. :D

Durban IPC is rocking :)

Well the Durban IPC have not given much problems actually. Softcap account was always pretty fast and I see no decrease in performance since I upgraded to 10Mbps uncapped. :)

So the whole vacation - since November actually - my whole town, Despatch (near PE), have been experiencing packet loss on our TI accounts. All of us who have a TI uncapped account start to get 2-5% packet loss from about 20:00 to 00:00. This makes it impossible to play any online games. I have tested it with the free Afrihost account and had 0%. During the day and after midnight however, there seems to be no packet loss. One cannot play a lot of games with just 1 gig of worthy internet and when most people are online, we have packet loss! Is this due to congestion on the TI infrastructure? I am not sure how these stuff work, but it is definitely not the line, as we have 60 less ms ping on the LoL servers and 0 packet loss on a AH account. What to do?

It's just such a disappointment that there's no "official" word that nightsurfer is included with their fiber product!

Yeah I suppose so but as @ranger mentioned they have more strict rules when it comes to IPC upgrades and the delay with wholesale when they do need additional ipc it sometimes is a problem but it won't be a permanent problem if it ever does happen so yeah.

I'm happy with Telkom. Getting a massive discount each month is worth well worth it actually.

I was paying R700 [R452 after discount] for all inclusive 10Mbps line and 50GB softcap so hoping to somewhere around R700 again for uncapped option but you never know with Telkom billing. I think it is a awesome deal. Cheaper than ANY other ISP.

and I sit with the dilemma of having the option of 100mb fiber (dangling off a street pole 20m away), but have to accept the non-negotiable deal of 200GB softcap (possibly no nightsurfer) for R1800 x 24!
 
Speed brakes seem to have been reapplied :o
 
Ey these telkom issues needs to be resolved soon.

This on a 10meg line. Its ridiculous.
 
This morning I checked my userstats and was green ,Now orange and only did 195G (downloadsafter12)
I think what pushed this over the edge,Was 2 Sons home both with Laptops and the other 1 on xbox live
ALL watching different youtube stuff.


Lets see how long this will last before the ReD kiks in LAST year I was on orange a week and nothing happend.
 
It looks like the window threshold for usage is getting narrower. I'm on a 4mb Uncapped, and admittedly, most of my usage is during peak time, but when I say "peak time" I mean between 5pm and 11pm, like most people I suppose. I can't ever remember the bar going this far with usage under 100GB. Granted, I'm still in the green, but I am a bit concerned that this may start to change just based on my observation thus far. This is more or less my average usage on a monthly basis. Just hit 90GB and the bar is half way. Normally, it's less than that.

Hi all, how much of a mission is it to get a email address from Telkom ?
Do you get one pasella or do you have to pay ?
My boss has a uncapped account, and would like an email attached to the service.
Been on hold for 2 hours now to speak to a consultant
