Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Had a period last night that was plagued by massive lag spikes, probably 15-20 minutes.

I don't bother streaming video anymore, use Internet Download Manager, download them - then watch. Download speed fluctuates wildly, but they arrive intact which is what matters.
 
I want to leave TI, but they put me on a contract, even though I've never ever receiver a free router, never signed or acknowledged a contact. They probably default you to a contract upon activation.
Anyone had experience with this ****?

When you dial 10210 and order a service its a contract. Ask for the recording when you initially ordered the service. If they slipped up reading all the T&C`s to you, you can cancel.
 
Same here, but at least I got a free installation, contract expires in December ...

I seem to remember having similar intetnet issues last year in the same time period, after the first quarter things improved somewhat ... , there where definitely similar issues before they upgraded us from 1 mbps to 2 mbps ... , pattern maybe ...

You're probably getting a discounted bundle rate, AFAIK this doesn't prevent you cancelling and the penalty isn't very much but be very careful they don't cancel your line if you intend moving to another ISP - Telkom have a habit of doing this with bundles.
 
I got the router and free installation and it was a month to month "contract" Cancelled 10 months in without penalty. I did however specifically asked the 10210 operator if it was a year contract, to which she responded NO.
 
Told them I did not want a router, when I got home late the evening I found I had gotten another router, now the proud owner of 6 routers ... , work long hours ...

I never got the 25% discount you all talk of. Never. I get the normal rates for the do uncapped advanced bundle.
 
Also with the contracts, when you upgrade or downgrade, they start you on a new contract. Madness.

Telkom used to hand out discounts like sweeties, no request required.

Checking back I see the uncapped premium discount ended last March. Since then they have offered time limited discounts on "specials" which are usually contract based.

I'm not aware of any current standard discounts other than the possibility of getting 25% on your line if you threaten you'll move it to an ISP but that's hearsay based on comments by MyBB members.

Anyone having issues with authenticating with their TI account on a Mikrotik Router? I discovered that my internet problems have been caused by having to PPPoE on the Mikrotik. Any other account authenticates just fine. Any help with this will be much appreciated.
 
Not really a few monthes back I had a Bar like that for a few days and was not throttled .

I've only been throttled once and that was back in the day when I signed up, pretty sure I got throttled once it went red. This time however it's still business as usual.

Oh well let me finish that 25GB download :D
