Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Ahh, Looks like Telkom have now prioritized ICMP pings to their IPC so the congestion doesn't show up in the latency graphs, but does show up on trace routes... :erm:

Looking at the other threads it looks like most of the isp's are having a similar problem, my Vox account is worse than TI at the moment.

No idea what is up with TI, all I know is that if I use one of my backup accounts I don't have any issues.

I had syncing issues this morning, Oosterzee, Bellville area for about 20-30min. Was on the phone and waiting to speak to consultant when it came back to life. Anyone else?

As part of promotion , TI has doubled data for Capped Customers.. Why can't they increase FUP(UNKNOWN) in the same way for Uncapped Customers at least during this promotion.
We are getting sick of this throttling limits of 2 meg line. If you want more FUP, need to upgrade which is not possible due to location constraint.

You used to be able to run 4MB uncapped on a 2MB line, don't know if that has changed but I doubt it. Could be fun upgrading via 10210 though.

Well, it's officially my last day as a Telkom customer. It's been an interesting ride: the free upgrade to 10Mbps was nice, the constant DC's causing you to eventually drop the line speed down to 6Mbps not so much. Recently, my connection dropping between 18:00-20:00 EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS would've driven me to madness, if I wasn't already there. Thanks for assuring me, after I'd logged hundreds of calls, that the issue had been resolved. I assure you - it hasn't. I know you said it was a congestion issue at the exchange - but how about actually doing something about it?

P.S: I wonder if they'll actually even process the cancellation?

Looks like they don't want to upgrade Data Portion before upgrading Line Speed portion
Thanks for the advice though!

I average ~200GB a month, a page or two back someone posted using 280GB before being throttled. This on a 2Mb/s line.

Thanks for info!
I don't download much using Night Surfer. I generally get throttled at 85-90 GB per month. So, will hope for upgrade to 4 mbps or will have to use another ISP which gives at least 150-175 GB.

all im hoping for, is that yesterdays blank out, or lack of connection was down to some issue with TI. Because, if they throttled me, at the start of the new month lol, then ill be annoyed.

2 more days before I cancel TI ...

man Mickey, ive only been 2 weeks in with TI. Im on a month to month, and im so ready to pull the trigger and move to either VOX or CW on a capped account. Perhaps even Afrihost, which im currently using without any issues
