What does customerportal.telkomsa.net say you have as your access service?

Edit: Or you used the prioritisation feature on tracker and you need to go back and update it.

ok went to TITracker and changed it to 4096 did these two about 3 minutes apart...

so speed wise, is that the norm, as for the ping :cry: ping in Teamspeak at the moment is 210, so needless to say i wont even try and open Counter Strike as playing with that ping will make me jump out my window .... o wait, im on the ground floor FML


latest test: throwing in the towel for tonight had a crappy day, hope the interweb gods smile on me during the night

Ok , account seems upgraded. Kill you current ppp session (log in to router and disconnect/reconnect, or unplug the line for 10 seconds and plug it back in, whichever is easier), and speedtest again.

(Disconnects are supposed to be done on upgrades, I think the developers are busy with work that will allow for upgrades to not require disconnects, but it seems it doesn't always work)

did this with a free 1gb afrihost account, will get my pants back on (or will I) and go unplug the goods :D

Yup, saw over 1500ms ping in game last night. Decided to promptly just turn the PC off.
 
I am currently on 20G 2mb line. I want to go to 4mb line, it will cost me R200 per month more, but if going to mweb or afri it will be cheaper.
I got a @telkomsa.net email, will I have to cancel it and get a new one, if moving away from telkom isp.

It sounds like you are on the Do Basic Softcap bundle which is now R409 (incl telephone line). The Do Advanced Softcap bundle (4Mbps, 40GB) is R559 (R150 more):

For just the telephone line and DSL you would pay R199+R299, effectively getting the 40GB Softcap for R61. If 40GB is adequate for your needs this may be your best option.

If you took the 20GB instead of the 40GB you would lose the bundle discount and it would be more expensive than with the 40GB: R199+R299+R99=R597.

The cheapest Afrihost capped package is R100.

The Telkom Internet packages are only competitive on the bundles (I don't know why, there may have been a valid reason due to legal issues), so beware when upgrading.

You can get it as standalone for R15pm, but as far as I know the only way to get from bundle to standalone is to cancel everything and order the standalone account, so if you use imap or the webmail interface (not pop3), you will need to backup your email. I think you can do it from the webmail interface.
 
Im having problems with my line as of this morning. My telephone line is dead, not even a dial tone. My adsl is syncing between 800 - 900 kbps (on a 10 meg line, my usual sync is stable at 10 meg). The phone line worked for about 10 min earlier but was very noisy and crackling. Are there any faults on telkom side?

Off-topic for this thread, as this seems to be a line issue.

If you didn't change anything recently (e.g. plugged a new device into the telephone line) or had anything happen that might affect equipmenent (e.g. struck by lightning), log a line fault.
