Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Strange that there's so much of issues! I assume Telkom's fibre and ADSL run on the same network. That should be even more incentive to ensure a smooth experience on the network.
 
Problems here in PE since late afternoon.

Note that a similar affliction affects certain international destinations (and it started at the exact same time as well, which leads us to believe the matter is related to the peering issue with MTN).

Easy to test, just use the location of the 6 Linode datacenters across the globe:

speedtest.newark.linode.com - New York - 20% loss
speedtest.atlanta.linode.com - Atlanta - 25% loss
speedtest.fremont.linode.com - California - 0% loss
speedtest.frankfurt.linode.com - Frankfurt - 26% loss
speedtest.singapore.linode.com - Singapore - 0% loss
speedtest.tokyo2.linode.com - Tokyo - 28% loss

So only two of the destination have 0% loss. Note that before the 5th, all these destinations were showing 0% loss on Telkom Internet. And all of them still show 0% loss when using a different ISP.

Pretty random for me but between 7 and 10 pm on some days I get +-1000 ping with about 0.10 Mbps through speedtest.net on my Telkom 10 meg connection. Here's the weird part though. I run the speedtest app on my phone and get full speed with normal ping. The play store has full speed too. What's also weird is that my gaming ping remains normal.

I have the opposite results, gaming on local servers is impossible due to ping, and while I have a 4meg package I am able to get 6 meg download speed on torrents and speedtest is showing 4 meg speeds as well... this is strange to say the least.

That is strange indeed. Can you send me a message with your username and the IP's of the gaming servers ?

I will only be gaming again next week due to work, but gaming seems to be the only problem with online as I am able to offline games like Dishonored 2 and the witcher 3 fine without any issues... and on vox gaming seems to work like a dream.
 
Last night the performance was so bad, I was getting 25% packet loss. This morning all was fine again. Evenings are really ridiculous the last month or so.
 
Additional bandwidth were added today. Please test and let me know if you see any improvements

I really hope it does sort it out. I stay in Heidelberg, GP. Pings to any JHB gaming server i have no issues. But if i join a sever in CPT i get 400+ms of latency :/ i got a backup Webafrica account to combat this but i prefer using Telkom. It normally is the most consistent for me.
 
im with nano here, im in dbn, and HOLY SH!!T, trying to play CS with 900ms+ is bloody impossible
