Mine is working so much better now, whatever you did thank you and please don't change it. I hope every one else gets sorted.

This is good news, if you happy then this thread is already looking brighter :).

just xrapidx and jeanres....

mine is fixed, they moved me onto another dslam at the exchange as the one I am on was busy dying!

Browsing is awesome, 1080p Youtube is not buffering......

WOW, dude, that is amazing considering it is not so easy to get moved from one dslam to another :). So glad you are sorted.

I have cancelled my Openweb Silver account to move to Telkom in July. Reading the last few pages and I don't know what to do now.
Which ISP do I join in July?

It seems to be only the cape town area thats got issues but they seem ti be sorting out. JHB doesnt seen to be a problem.

I've found rebooting the router seems to sort things out, but I'm having to do it almost daily now, and I didn't have to before, or at all on my MWEB account. Hopefully whatever changes are being implemented sorts things out once and for all.

Where roughly in durban do u stay Shanezn, I'm from durban and my connection bhas been flying at line speed.

My downloads seem to be hitting 450+KB/s quite easy.... yet I still can't stream, and browsing is miserable.

They've given me a test account which I'll try tonight.

Please send this in an email to [email protected], for the attention of the ADSL-Backbone queue (or SAIX, if whoever looks at your ticket has access to log an FQ), and PM me the ticket number you should get back in an auto-reply.

We will need to log an FQ with SAIX, and they may need to liaise with MWEB.

(E.g., it may be that MWEB isn't advertising these routes correctly to SAIX, or it may be that SAIX isn't accepting them).

SAIX does peer with MWEB:

So, this also seems to indicate it is not a problem with advertising of our ADSL ranges to MWEB.

I've found rebooting the router seems to sort things out, but I'm having to do it almost daily now, and I didn't have to before, or at all on my MWEB account. Hopefully whatever changes are being implemented sorts things out once and for all.

As far as I know, this indicates a DSLAM problem, something occurs when the DSLAM port loses sync and gets sync again, which improves the throughput on the port temporarily.

Did you log any line faults?

Why is the Telkom account becoming slow once every few days where I have to restart the router and nothing is wrong on the line since Afrihost works fine.

My account is working fine tonight when I'm supposed to be testing using the test account. This does not help :(

xrapidx!!! wohoooooooooo awesome dude, mine will suck tonight, I think they are giving my bandwidth to you!

*If* dropping the PPPoE session on the router, and starting a new one, fixes it, it *could* be ISP-related. But really, I can't think of any viable reason it would actually be the case.

If dropping the PPPoE session doesn't make a difference, but resetting the router (or pulling out the phone line) makes a difference, I suspect DSLAM issues.

If pulling out the phone line (waiting for the modem to lose sync, reconnecting it) doesn't make a difference, and restarting the PPPoE doesn't either, but rebooting the router does, then I would say the problem is most likely with the router.

When you say Afrihost works fine, but you say the 'Telkom account becomes slow once every few days', for how long are you running the Afrihost account?

There was a very minor change made this morning, but it was only enabling some statistics gathering in advance of the changes this weekend, it should not have had any impact.

Hope it keeps working for you ...
