Last nights torrents scheduled to start at 21:00 seem OK, had the problem cleared by then?
Edit: actually I think it might have been a 20:00 start from looking at the graph.

I had massive issues with Unotelly last night.
Once I remove the Unotelly DNS everything resolved itself.
OpenDNS doesn't seem to have the same problem.
But I have seen the same problems as some of you for the past 3 nights now.
And then in a blink of any eye it all just worked again.

Yeah Telkom uncapped is pretty decent..... There were bumpy rides but wow it does really feel like a premium uncapped account at a fraction of the cost...... 4Mbps flying on everything I throw at it..... games,torrents,usenet even twitch seems ok

Same here... Lets hope the Telkom "splitup" and LLU makes it BETTER / Cheaper and not worse...

DSLAM congestion is the most likely cause. Log a line fault online or with @TelkomZA

Do regular traceroute tests and keep record of everything. That will prove if congestion is the problem or not. Do it at differant times of the day and night.
At the command prompt run:
Tracert capetown.spdtst.saix.net
Or
Tracert rosebank.spdtst.saix.net
Depending if you route through Cape Town or Rosebank.
Hop 1 should be the link beteeen your pc and the router and a high ping will indicate a possible problem with your pc/router.
Look at hop 2 and 3.
Pings higher than 50 will indicate some congestion with times of 120ms or higher really indicating possible congestion problems. High pings on the other hops might indicate other line issues further down the line.
It will help you if you have proper reckords.
Ensure that no programs are running when you do the tests. Disconnect other pc's, consoles or devices.
Torrents are maxing at about 550kBps and usenet a little slower but youtube is streaming beautifully, yet to setup unotelly but if it streams like youtube at the moment then im tempted. Im happy for my 10mb to run at half speed as long as its like this.
Thanks, will keep track. However its pretty much every evening like this, during the day it seems to work, most times.
Tracert's and pings dont tell the story, i can load the pages, just no throughput, mostly almost every evening, you know, when you are home from work
frustrating in the extreme.I have multiple isps as well.
Last 2 days I was bragging how good it was, then today all pear shaped again.

This exchange needs some C4 perhaps, maybe then they will sort it out.
I will make a video record everyday and mail it to them, and just not pay, their min service is 50kb (pathetic I know) on a 4mb line down.

Traced both of those, and 2 and 3, and the rest for that matter are fine, 2 and 3 are under 50ms by a good margin.
