Go Business uncapped. Not that much more expensive. The service ranger is talking about is for home use and not to be relied on for high priority stuff.

That said, my internet has been great today. Http dl flying, p2p great, youtube streaming 1080 without buffering and audio streaming has been rock solid. Wish it was like this all the time.

Why should I have to now pay more for a service I was getting a week ago, on the package I am on ? My usage is under 100GB for the month, in fact, I average around 60-70GB. That's downloads, uploads, streaming, browsing ... the lot. A better option would be to shape P2P downloaders at peak times, since those are the users that seem to be causing the problem. I don't see why my legitimate usage of the service should be punished because of the actions of people that abuse it. I don't download during office hours. The bulk of my downloads happen when I get home from work, so between 6pm and 11pm mostly, and then I'm working with projects from that time until at least 2-3am most nights. By starting downloads at midnight, I'm losing a day's work. I've never needed a Business account, and to be honest, I'm not sure it will fair any better in comparison.

Great, this should help everyone :-).

For real linux distros, we will try and make a plan. Unfortunately, shaping p2p based on content isn't really feasibile, but would a fast http/ftp mirror on our side help? We did mirror some distros a while back, but the hardware was EOL and has since failed and we couldn't (at the time) justify replacing the hardware. We can now (but we're tight on time ...

Yes. I meant geniune Distros. I'm pretty new to Linux and are still trying to find a distro I really like and are still experimenting with different distros. Most of them I download via http, but ocasionally I use torrents to download them during the day, because I need or want them at that stage of the day. I only mentioned that, because that is the only time I normally do P2P download in the day.

Unfortunately the rest of your answer regarding EOL, etc is above my pay grade and can not comnent on it.
:)

I logged into my modem today and find that its now showing ADSL 2+ and not G.Dmt anymore.
Does this mean that my exchange has been upgraded? How can I check it?
It still shows 4096 down though.

Don't get your hopes up. Same happened to me but still stuck on 4095 down and 507 up

Your exchange/DSLAM might have been upgraded to newer equipment, but it doesnt mean the backhaul connection can support it.

Server dns error.jpg

I get this a lot, with an "Unable to resolve the servers DNS address.
I'm using default Telkom dns servers.
I haven't tried the opendns servers, because Telkom is suppose to work.
At times it can take up to 5 minutes for a page to load.

AFAIK can't get business uncapped on a residential line.

BTW my lines working great. very happy with service levels. And I'm a heavy user.

Well that would solve that issue ;)

My dsl is rocking tonight as well. 1080p content is streaming beautifully and http dl is almost maxing my line. :D

FWIW, my connection has also been perfect since yesterday. I just hope it stays that way.

This is roughly what my usage is like, mostly.

ranger, can you see if it's possible for the titracker site to have a "Remember me" option added to it? I keep my ADSL details on my Google Drive, and it's just a bit annoying to go there all the time to get it.

On 4MB uncapped my SD Netflix buffers more than it plays. Is it always this bad? Just switched back from Mweb.

This is getting so damn annoying, can download at full speed, can't stream anything, including 128kbps radio.
