SAIX does not have SSL for NNTP you can only use port 119 (2 connections)
It was mentioned elsewhere that they do- perhaps some wires got crossed in the discussion.
I think on 2Mb it starts being a possibility around 150GB but it varies with overall network load. If I end up hitting 200GB in a month then by then I'm always orange and noticeable throttling occurs at random times (seemingly more with amount of connections rather than overall speed though, for instance downloading the latest version of Linux Mint via torrent might end up practically dead (it will magically be fine again next month) even with a good amount of seeders, but normal http traffic will still be mostly ok (unless my dad and sister are on, then everything runs much slower even if we all are only doing light things and speedtest.net doesn't show a major overall speed reduction)).
The 1Mb limit will be lower though.
I did mention that I could download using SSL. I used port 563. I tested in March and I tested it yesterday, before I posted. It did work for me. I only tested for a couple of seconds and it did transfer info and then stopped because I don't normally dl nbz's.
Testing it now it tells me it can't connect to Telkom using that SSl port, so not sure what happened, but I do apologize for giving you the wrong info.

Does orange mean almost throttled or minor throttling? Then red means what? Account is barely usable?
Would I be going through there or CPT if I live in Durban?
Gauteng, for now ...
Orange means they're watching you (has a message to that effect as well), with red they start throttling your speed and I believe you get an email to that effect as well.

No e-mails gets sent. No one has confirmed receiving an e-mail. You jus get throttled and think line is broken.
Hmmm, I'm also in Durbs....I wonder if that's where my new lower sync rate/line speed since March comes from....
So if I have a 6MB line do I go for 4MB (R369) uncapped or 10MB (R699) uncapped? Why no intermediate offerings?
We had something else developed and working, but we were advised that the ADSL regulations don't allow us to be more user-friendly.
I'm going to see how far it takes to get into the Red this month just for interests sake.
I have similar situation as you. Just try out the 4 meg uncapped. Does the job and sometimes goes above 4 meg when streaming.

So how do we get notified about speed slow down?
