Hmm just checked both SAIX and and TiTracker. My 2MB line has done 171GB total according to SAIX and the TiTracker is still showing in the green slightly over half way.
If orange is dependent on a sort of soft cap then I guess I'm gonna hit that soon, if it's based on continuous usage then I think I'll manage to avoid both it and the red for this month.
Orange does NOT indicate any form of "capping".

Yes, but I think it might indicate all other net traffic over P2P prioritization or alternatively timed P2P throttling. Or perhaps it's just the increased watch status which reduces speed.

It's just an indicator that you are nearing the Red zone... only then will your account be affected.

well when douchenozzleweb kicks me off, I will switch to 2mb data and 1mb line from telkom seems to be they way forward, personally got throttled at 50gb on mweb cheap 2mb package.
Since my first warning at mweb on 2mb line I cancelled my credit card and only pay when they moan, so if they kick me off in the middle of the month they can come get my bicycle in my garage mu ha ha ha or i give them some handy for R199  ...

OR if they unfairly hand you over to credit bureau you spend 10 years trying to clear your name and u slowly realize no one cares...just saying

[1Mbps Line]
DL dropped to 3.96GB yesterday, down from an average of 8.5GB before throttling.

Not cool- I'm not at all impressed with the SAIX news server. Telkom have now also billed me for 2 months' uncapped which they said they wouldn't.

I shouldn't be surprised :(

Time to return to IS.

wouldn't that mean that you'd get a speed of only 1 meg? why then bother with the 2meg dsl?

That's because they bill a month in advance. SO first month is 2x bill. Also they have 30 days notice for cancellation period.

Which directly contradicts what the sales agent told me over the phone

I'll see if I can wangle a refund. I could use 2 accounts next month should I need to. Not ideal though, especially if it's because some douche doesn't know how to do his job.

 Why would you believe 10210 over MyBB? The first invoice double billing has been mentioned many times here, most other ISPs want your first months payment in their hot, grubby hands (or debit order authorization) before enabling your account.

Anyone know what the new "bundle" values are? Local Cap used to be 30 Gigs and my general cap was 20 Gigs, has it changed with the new "soft cap" offering? I have a 6 meg line and notice that I am now throttled to 250 Kbit download speed.
I would assume that the soft cap would apply to international traffic only and therefore only international speeds would be slowed but right now even a speedtest to a local Cape Town host get a whopping 250Kbits.

Have to +1 this. When I signed up over the phone the telkom dude [a few times] mentioned the 2 months story. . . Different strokes I guess :p

The whole notion of "local access" bandwidth was kicked into touch by TI in February, once you hit your cap you are now throttled until the new month.

Top-up GBs can be purchased but I'm not sure of the cost and, I believe, there were/are problems using the online top-up function.

It was something to do with changing from one TI account to another (Simple->Simple Uncapped). I asked about pro-rata etc as I was changing in the middle of the month- that's where the 'only pay for next month, next month' thing came from.

Calling them now to have a chat around this  Not looking forward to it...

Oh... Then I guess you have a valid case for asking for a refund.

One way a Friday afternoon should not be spent. Sorry to hear...
