Mmm...Something strange going on:

P2P limited to 1 meg speed on 4 meg uncapped line. speedtest is fine and news-server is fine.

Guess Telkom uncapped is now shaped regardless of amount used. I'm green on titracker btw.
 
Hey guys: you remember the 25% discount when we signed up for by agreeing to the 1 year contract. Here it is:

Adsl Line rental R 372.81
Adsl 4 Meg Uncapped account: R 323.68
Line Rental (Voice) R 130.15

Total R 826.64 (excluding VAT)

Discounts (25% + Bundle discount): R 407.64 (not sure if this is for current month or current month + prorata last month)

Monthly account before VAT R 419

Total (including VAT) R477.66 So seems well worth it for a 1 year contract with 4 meg uncapped all costs included.

I'm moving back to TI at the end of the month.

If I recall:

Phone 10210 options centre (however those of us who got it, upgraded our lines/accounts and it was not a new line)
Requirements: Telkom adsl subscriber for more than 3 years. Agree to 1 year adsl contract telephonically. All have to be taken with telkom ie ADSL line and ADSL account.

Can choose any line speed to get 25 % saving. If you downgrade or upgrade you keep discount.

NB this was over 2 months ago so don't know if they still offer it. I was just surprised at my bill. I thought the sales guy was lieing to me.

Edit: contract locks you to telkom account but you can downgrade/upgrade with discount any time.

Where must I post traceroutes to? This morning sites are super slow and youtube is an absolute joke.
 
Does anyone know if the 4Mb accounts are shapped differently to 2MB accounts?

I upgraded my line and account to 10MB and 4MB uncapped respectively, but notice I'm only getting around 220KB/s from newsgroups on the 4MB account at the moment, I got the same on the 2MB account.

Haven't downloaded much this month. (I have confirmed the correct profile is loaded)

If I do a speettest.net, I get line speed of 10MB down/1MB up.

And now its sitting at 130KB/s... my 2MB account performed better.
 
Test conducted on 6/11/2013 3:26:46 PM

Download Speed: 3496 kbps (437 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 354 kbps (44.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 348 ms

Crazy intl latency.
Browsing in general slow since yesterday.

Local speedtest seems okay as well as local traceroute.
Haven't downloaded anything today, but Http downloads were okay yesterday.

Area:
Eastern Cape, close to PE

Post them here and other members will tell you what is going on. Think the biggest E3 announcement has passed so should ease off abit now :p.

Am getting poor speeds and can't see the Nintendo Direct feed :/. 10MB sad panda
 
Darn. Our Telkom line is dead for the 3rd time in 2 weeks. I was planning to watch the WWDC keynote and nada :(
 
Whats the site for checking if you capped/throttled/whatever they call it?

According to my log I've done 50GB on 4MB.

I can't even watch the E3 Nintendo on 240p this is so annoying!
 
Seems to be a general go-slow on both capped & uncapped as far as browsing is concerned, torrents seem OK though :confused:
