Can someone from Gauteng comment on how their experience has been with TI?

Im in pretoria and have only been with telkom(1mbps uncapped) for 3 weeks and it's been 3 weeks of agony and frustration!Latency in league of legends has been 1000+ since yesterday (and even if its the normal 205ms i have packet loss during the day),downloads are painfully slow, browsing is ok and dont even want to mention youtube vids.I have a friend who lives 3 blocks from me and also has 1mb uncapped except his with MWEB and he almost never has issues.Only 3 weeks and already want to change to another isp!!

i am getting pings of 700-900ms on teamspeak. Dont even want to know what Dota 2 latency will be.

So i take it problem of yesterday is still here? Funny enough, i was able to play properly at like 10h30 yesterday.

Can anyone confirm or give me more info on this?

How do I cancel TI as isp - is there an online option to cancel? I'm listening to music (10210, option 1, option 5) for 10 minutes now....
Three days of trying 10210 for me. Spent 15 to 20mins on the line each time before my patience ran out. Third time lucky.
And no... no other way to cancel according to the person I spoke to.
G'luck with it.
Rgds,
SD

Having major issue with telkom ADSL since Tuesday 25th June - even though speedtest.net and saix.net give me average ping of 14ms, 5.3MB/s download speed and 53kb/s upload speed, internet browsing is at a snail's pace with images loading one by one (youtube / cnn etc.) whilst video streaming does not work / incredibly slow with buffering every few seconds. Noticed that this happens after 6PM in the evening and back to faster speeds in the morning (around 6AM/7AM).

Interestingly when I go to www.pingtest.net, it takes forever (although fails most times) and that test gives me a ping of 1800 with huge amount of packet loss.

I am situated in Melrose Arch, Sandton, Johannesburg if this is of any use to anyone - someone please help me understand what is going on?

When I logged a fault with Telkom last night, they also reset my port, made me reset my router to no avail. In addition they said the exchange appears to be operating just fine (not flatlining according to them). Since I logged the fault yesterday, apparently Telkom did some tests on my line in the afternoon today and found no real issues - I did point out to them however that the problem appears to start in the evening so worthwhile they do their tests when network traffic increases.

Finally in Battlefield 3, I can get in, however get an orange triangle (with disconnected wires icon) on the top right of the in-game screen - upon spawning, everything around my soldier is moving (including the map) however I cannot move at all - one person said that I may be getting enough input but there is no sufficient output.

I've tested the browsing speeds on a number of devices (2 laptops, iphone and ipad) and all come back with really slow browsing speeds / non-existent streaming on youtube etc.

Something clearly amiss at the Telkom exchange?

*HELP*

Downloading at a steady 215kbps on average on my 2MB Uncapped, so all good here ... for now.

My internet speed is fine but I'm also get massive pings in all online games (Diablo 3, League of Legends, Halo 4). I'd really like to know what the problem is because its just been going on consistently for three days already.

We have allocated the reserve bandwidth in the Gauteng site (includes KZN) and the Cape Town site, and done some minor adjustments to improve the experience of most traffic.

There may be some negative impact to P2P during peak times though.

I can comment.... Im not sure why, but ever since the beginning of all this complaints, i have not once had any issues, im in the West of JHB, and connected to the Helderkruin exchange, and i honestly had no issues, the last time i had major throttling issues was in May, but that was sorted shortly after my complaints (thanks again Ranger (for the assistance) & MickeyD for the config on my torrent client and DNS)... And ever since then my P2P has been flying! my HTTP downloads have been flying! everything has been just hankie dory! With the exception of 1 Sunday 2 weeks ago when my browsing was extremely slow, but its been again after that.... All in all, im quite happy with TI, moved from MWEB, and except for my brief RANT in may, i never looked back, (especially after a friend of mine showed me the lovely mail he got from MWEB about "Fair usage" and abusing the network etc. LMAO! i would've gotten that mail monthly!)

PS. Im busy downloading "The Sopranos" entire series, at 32 Gigs in size, not a very well seeded torrent, but im getting max speeds literally throughout the day, and with on & off downloading and downloading other stuff and putting the Sopranos on hold, all in all its going to take a total of 3 days to complete.

So does this mean there isn't enough bandwidth going around and you will have to manually allocate reserve bandwidth every time you see things start to fall over? I don't mean it in a rude way, I rather am trying to determine what the state is of TI at the moment.
