I'm on 250GB with 4Mbps line now and the bar is still green on ti tracker
While they have capacity and users are not pushing the limits all is well. When the capacity dries up and users are throttled then the limit could be in a very vast range from time to time. So to peg the limit they would end up being very conservative to ward off any ASA / ICASA complaints. So while I would like to know the specifics, I'm scared that it could force the ISPs to enforce lower usage!Good to know - I don't anticipate using more than 300GB.... I really don't get why ISPs can't just tell you the limit, they piss more people off than not by hiding it.

I was on 450GB (up & down) and was throttled to 1mb/s on 16/05/2013. Total for May was combined at 630GB. Back to full speed 4mb/s today

... not too shabby I think you'll agree.
Dunno - I've never been throttled and do +/- 300GB/mth on 4Mbps (since March).Yeh, thats more than enough for my needs but, wasn't that the month where everyone was getting throttled though?
Very very nice, service is capped again. Max speed as off today is around 45K. Thanks Telkom but this is the end of the road for me.

You can check for yourself at https://secure.telkomsa.net/titracker.
We had planned to redirect users http traffic there when they reached the point of fair usage service restrictions (and had developed and tested this) so that users would know, but the regulatory team believe that the current ADSL regulations so not permit this.
OK something really funny happened a few mins ago. For me to check my usage I had to know my telkom username and password which is basically impossible and I lost where I wrote it down, I called Telkom and they had to reset my acc. As soon as this happened my line shot up and the speed was normal for a 2MB. Prior to this change I was getting average about 30-40KBs download speeds the week , now I am running at 200KBs again.
I think Telkom should move to Dynamic Shaping of torrents/downloads not blanket capping/slowing of products. It just doesnt make sense to justify sudden speed reduction at the end of the month because, unless my understanding is correct, its not as if the network/capacity suddenly grows towards the end of the month.
How long does one get throttled for?

P2P is shaped (well, has lowest priority with a minimum reservation, no maximum) according to capacity, but the problem with only shaping P2P is that real abusers then use other protocols (nntp, https etc.), which we don't want to blanket shape.
There has been some progress on better business rules for uncapped, but we don't have a final date for implementatiom yet.
Ultimately the business rules need to help those who want to make use of unused capacity while limiting the impact of those who just want to download as much as possible, regardless of the impact to others.
I prefer the sudden throttling, but would like a hard limitThen at least I know what to work towards not breaking.
Rather let people know what is considered abuse, and after that they are throttled. Simple. If you don't like it, find another product that offers better.
Or you could try not break the system. That would also be awesome.
