Anyone else having issues tonight in the Cape Town area? Had no issues past 2 months now suddenly last 2 days, I cant even load speed test. 4mb Uncapped TI on 6mb line. Usage trackers says I have done 52gb this month. :erm:

4mb uncapped in Paarl. Just did the speedtest again: Ping 665 - 270kbps download - slightly quicker up...

Here's the thing though - I also just watched a 9min long Youtube clip in HD - streamed perfectly, no lag. Whilst my one iTunes 27,3mb download still has 29 minutes to go, and has already been downloading for the past 35 mins.

I thought I understood the Internet. Clearly I don't. I cannot get my head around the above.

Whoohoooo beat this :(

View attachment 64685 <--- TI (and as u can see my line is synced @ 6mb)
View attachment 64687 <--- Afrihost

Yip - last 3 days have been terribad - 2mb uncapped line, normally no problems. Last few days - I kid you not - 0.06 mbps down 0.15 up. Its super frustrating... (CT city center)

Have you tried with a direct cable connection yet?

Yes. Macbook on Thunderbolt display via Gigabit ethernet.

You honestly think the wifi is the problem ? Shame on you !

Consider yourself blessed that you're in PE and have no TI problems.

Fwiw I've never seen wifi that bad.

ASUS N66U running custom Merlin f/w. A Ferrari amongst routers.

Communism. That's what we need.

Some Komrad dividing all Souf-Efriken internet users equally, amongst all the various ISP's - and then stokvelling the selected few (lottery winners) into 1 month of glorious, unadulterated, eye-bleeding download uber-heaven (whilst the rest lag in the stone-age of dial-up tones) - before the giant rotation, where the next batch get to sip from the sweet nectar of download blitzkrieg....

Or, like, whatever.
[Where be Ranger?]

YouTube streaming is 100% though :/

Streaming this at 480p, no buffering at all.

I suspect they've prioritised traffic, ie. browsing and streaming, but dl's have taken a back seat.
