Assuming you were using this torrent: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:a1057948be9d1494f1af802b7350cce2a661d35c&dn=VA%20-%20400%20Rock-Pop-Disco%20Hits%20All%20CDRips%20%5BBubanee%5D&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.openbittorrent.com&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.publicbt.com

Then, I am currently fluctuating between 50kBps and 100kBps (or 400kbps and 800kbps):

So, I don't think this is the typical experience you should expect on recent torrents.

There are some improvements we hope to put in this week, and we hope customer behaviour will change a bit due to incentives to reduce the demand for bittorrent and other lower value during 'prime time', so those who really want something now get more ...

I personally have no problems without youtube, 480p videos download much faster than they play, not even close to buffering, so MKFrost, we may have to look at other issues in your case ...

But, I need to be up early tomorrow, so I am off to bed.

Thanks for the effort, Ranger. I however do not understand the reference to the torrent I used. It was the same torrent on all three ISP's, without closing the torrent down or anything. I just swapped accounts on the modem, therefore comparing apples with apples.
Telkom came in at 6.4kB/s , FNB at 222kB/s and Afrihost at 414kB/s.

I can only hope the changes is going to make a difference. My son is laughing his ass off at me, as he told me not to go Telkom uncapped, but rather Afrihost. Thing is all my e-mail addresses & stuff is with Telkom and I hated the idea of giving them up. On the other hand, I refused the 25% discount for a years contract, because I am scared of exactly what is happening now. So, maybe in a months time I am migrating again...

I finished my torrent with Afrihost now, so the immediate rush is over and I will see what happens.

Torrent settings:
Ensure that you allow normal, unencrypted bittorrent. On some networks, encrypted bittorrent is recommended because it can confuse traffic management systems, and thus not be shaped. On our network, encrypted bittorrent *is* identified, and has lower priority than more real-time traffic (browsing, streaming etc.). However, we can accelerate *unencrypted* bittorrent (we do apply congestion control on accelerated bittorrent, but this hardly ever results in much shaping). We can't accelerate encrypted bittorrent or uTP, so it is counter-productive to only allow encrypted bittorrent.

You can enable encrypted bittorrent and uTP, just don't require encryption from peers.

If you still don't come right, please PM me your username, and I will take a closer look at your traffic.
I'm using Deluge in Linux.
What do I need to do in order to be inline with the post made by Ranger?

Don't use Deluge myself but a quick look show you're looking for Preferences > Network > Encryption

... you have three choices for Outbound & Inbound - I'd opt for "Enabled" initially definitely not "Forced" and you could try "Disabled" later to see if that speeds things up. Not sure about "Encrypt entire stream" but I'd be inclined to disable it, leave "Level" at "Either".

Thx Mick.

I will try it.
I don't really have issues with speed or I don't think so, as they run ealy morning hours, but would just prefer to be inline with the suggestions Ranger made.

The only torrents that I download during the day is the occasional distro. Most of the time it is a http download.

Ranger....

Back to normal here. They did a reset yesterday and the line is flying as it should. Thanks

How is Telkom Do Uncapped 2mps speed during office hours/after hours, speedtest results?
Http Download speeds?
Can youtube & other streaming sites(mostly 360p) work without buffering?
Shaping/Throttling, usage or demand based? Use +- 120-180GB p/m
How do you get the 25% discount on your total bundle, not just line, or are some people just lucky?
Can you get a faster 4mpbs line & 2mbps data account and still get a bundle discount aswell as the 25% line discount?
On the above combination, is the speed only burstable after hours or when there is less demand?

If someone can help with the above I'll appreciate it, since I'm paying too much and not getting the speed I'm supposed to at the moment with my ISP.

Thanks.

I phoned twice today and could only get the discount on the line not the entire bundle. But there are a few people who have it on the entire bundle, I too would like to know how..

The discount applies to the ADSL line rental portion, but I noticed on my invoice that I have an additional bundle discount as well s the 25% off the ADSL line.

I been with many different ISP's and I can say without doubt that Ti has been the best, especially when it comes to day time speeds. I get full line speed during the day (HTTP and Torrents, I dont do alot of NZBs but when I do it full speed too)

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2945901607.png
(2MB uncapped, 4MB line)
At night its not so rosy but thats due to my exchange thats congested.

How much would a 2mbps bundle cost, R384.25(excl line rental, only ADSL portion)?
And a 2mbps data account with a 4mbps line, price? Do the line discount and bundle discount still apply?
When is the best time to join, the beginning or end of the month.
Do Telkom still bill you double(in advance) when you join?

Thanks

Why is it up the pole ?

Could it be that I'm using payed DNS servers (unblock-us) and not Telkoms ?
