Could someone please explain to me why I'm being throttled? I don't p2p or torrent only nzb(which I schedule 12 -6) and netflix during the night, My usage is orange and only used 101gb for the month...I thought the cap was 120gb on 1mb line? Did I miss something? thx

You dumbass, you are not being throttled! Orange is a warning, red is being throttled.

Why not run your torrents from 00:00 to 06:00, you will likely get good speeds during that window. Or upgrade to usenet :D

lol dude i tried, i get no speeds what so ever 24 hrs per day, only 7KB/s to 15KB/s. Its telkoms schedule for me to suffer. Think thats what they do, 2-3 month of good internet and then followed by a month of bad experience. Think you correct about usenet, but im not gonna get most of the things that i want.

Have you been throttled though?
I'm in the orange with 295gb and no throttling.

Your problems seem exchange related over throttling.
I'm getting full speeds across the board on on orange.

How do you go about getting Telkom to frack a fault? When I complain, all they ever do is re set my port.

I would PM TelkomZA, he/she is very effective in getting faults addressed. I thought I had a problem with my line and PM'd TelkomZA. The next day a tech was at my place checking out my line. Too bad my problem was not with my line but congestion.

That sounds dangerous :D

That does sound dangerous indeed :p

Anyone else here having find that torrents are really slow? I mean I'm getting 20-30kBps on a well seeded torrent.
I'm just not used this, torrents normally fly now its crawling.
Not complaining just checking coz this definitely aint the norm for me.

Maybe cos its month end. Just wait till Tuesday before complaining IMO.

If you had great service for 1st 2 thirds of the month than just wait for the account to reset to see if its a problem.

Having got all the old stuff I want over the last few years via torrents, I'm only interested in currently airing TV shows, and those I pull the morning after they've aired in the UK via the SAIX news server. They max out at 400 kbps which is nice. It's only between 5 and 7am, and by then I have the one or two I want each day.

"She who must be obeyed" requested an older show this morning so I fired up my faithful utorrent. It too maxed out at full speed, pulling an entire 6 episodes in just under 3 hours.

So yeah, it's working fine here. I enjoy the luxury of a very UN-congested exchange though... :)

Also found that torrents are running slower.

I've noticed the last couple of night or actually mornings that torrents were slow when it started 00:00 and was still slow at 01:30, but then sometime after that it does pick up.

I am overseas for the next week or so, wity very limited internet access. There are other people in our team who sometines look at this thread, but in the event of real problems, please email support @ telkomsa.net or contact TelkomZA

I've experienced this before, but I was connected yesterday and Friday for about 45 minutes each time without issues.

Edit:
If you want you can test to my pc.
Just inbox me.

Hey guys, want to ask about 4mb uncapped Telkom Internet bundle (account & line).

So a few questions:

Is there a way to TEST what you will get on the line, if I will get close to 4mb or not (currently I have a 2mb line with MWEB, and am cancelling it); which I currently am not even sure I will get, as my work is in the same area, the line at work only syncs at ~3Mbps. Basically, if possible how can I ask Telkom to test my line speed, and a trial 4mb account, so that I can make sure I will get it instead of just wasting money for a service not running at its cost. (and not just the claimed 4Mb in my area).

Regarding the 4Mb uncapped Telkom Internet bundle, is it currently worthwhile to get?

I play online games so need low pings for international servers - Heroes of Newerth, Guild Wars 2 etc.
Then watching stuff on Youtube , download about 150GB (torrents / news servers) on my current 2mb line.

Maybe I want to look into more streaming options (Netflix etc) which aren't possible with the slower 2mb, as an alternative to then cancel my DSTV. (IF I can only find a way to get sport rugby/cricket/F1 streamed as well, which I havent found anything reliable).

Lastly, anyone that is running on the 4mb bundle, what is the total cost for it with the discount applied, including the voice line rental?

Thanks!

Post the stats from your routers web interface (snr, attenuation etc)
