Yes it will give you some idea as to what's possible but won't show things like dslam backhaul congestion etc if there are such issues.



- How is international ping for gaming? (Heroes of Newerth, Guild Wars 2, etc)
- How is streaming (just Youtube atm), but looking into maybe Netflix etc if streaming is very good.
- Using about 150Gb atm on my 2Mb line (so obviously if I use Netflix usage will climb alot, lets make it 300Gb total for the month), will this account be ok for this usage?
- What is the current price for the full bundle? 4mb uncapped TI with Line? I read something about a discount, how much is it?

- No idea on gaming, ping to www.bbc.co.uk is about 200-210ms from durban, jhb & cpt could possibly be less.
- Youtube is fine, can't comment on the rest as I don't use them.
- On a 4Mb/s line 300GB will be fine, throtteling only kicks in somewhere after 400GB.

Awesome thanks guys, this answers alot! Sounds like definitely something to get, at a very good price.

Ponder, I will send the SNR and attenuation etc later when I go home (or maybe tonight).

Yes. You will find that you can get wayyyyy more data down before being throttled than you can wth MWEB.
Bonus: If you do your bulk downloads between 00:00 to 06:00 you probably wont ever be throttled.

That is True I did 390 gigs on my 2 meg acc and still was Orange.
 
So I decided that I need to get Grid 2 for my xbox.
I teamview into my PC at home and start the download.
I check in later and take a look at JDownloader and I'm stunned!

I'm have 2MB uncapped with a 4MB line.
How the hell is this even possible?
 
Can you get just a username and password from Telkom Internet? I want to move from my current ISP (they give me a good price on keeping my line with them, so what to keep that). But need a username and password signup :). If they do that I would be grateful. :)

As far as we know you cant have your line with an ISP and your data with Ti.
If you move your line back to Telkom aand take the 25% discount, your line will work out cheaper than what an ISP gives to to at.
Plus you will get a further bundle discount = more savings.

Had a friend request for MWEB to move his line back to Telkom and it was done by the next day. No downtime at all.

I did not know that Telkom was giving all those discounts. Good to know. Thanks for all the info. Need to wait out the month then and start the trek back :)

How does one get these Telkom discounts? I'm with TI and I'm quite certain I be getting no discounts :/

:erm: I think I've asked before and used to follow this thread but I tend to go MIA every now and then. I blame reality.
