I very rarely use torrents, only html downloads and nzb.
I can do both 24/7 with no negative impact.
There was a point when I could only find a certain series on filehosting sites and not on torrents or nzb.
I downloaded for an extended period through filefactory.
With no negative effect.

My first month I downloaded loads of torrents and even then it was not a factor.
We're talking 250gb of torrents and streaming.

Will try to download NZBs 24/7 from today and see if I get screwed over like with torrents. Will report back with findings. :D

same here. Downloaded some stuff for the very first time using NZB last night on my 1MB line. It flew through my list at near full speed. Actually felt quite guilty afterwards LOL.
 
I can only think it's related to the file itself being too old.
Not sure though.
I remember I had some timeout msgs in the start but I'm certain it was related to old files.
I haven't seen it for a long time though.

Your setup is probably not correct, you could be using the incorrect server details, or port/amount of connections.

Or like Electric says, probably out of your servers retention? What i usually do is, create a profile on https://www.tweaknews.eu/?page=order&product=1 you get about 10Gigs or something, and 10 days to use up, i usually just create 1 every now and then when im having issues on the Saix.net server, with that server i can test if its Out of server retention issues, or just the saix server is down (bear in mind, TI has 2 saix servers so the 1 can be down, and the other can be fine).

So just test by creating the free trial on Tweaknews, and use that server, coz it has a 1200 days retention... so that will get the "out of server retention" theory.

This could be anything though.
I recently had issues with a download from Filefactory that kept pausing and not resuming.
I disabled my antivirus while downloading it and it never paused again.

No worries, I am completely uninstalled the gfx drivers on the ps3 and all is fine now.
Jokes.

Seriously, it happens with speedtest often too, between 6pm and 12 on weekdays
 
it could be line instability from too much speed...or simply being in an area with bad lines/high congestion/all sorts of physical problems affecting your connection
 
trying to download avg anti-virus from filehippo.com slow and keeps on timing out. 13th time is hopefully a charm. Internet at its best :D
 
nzbs flying along at 5 kilobytes per second and timing out every minute or so to 0 kilobytes per second. obviously my pittance of a monthly subscription isn't worth much to TelkomZA (has never given a concrete answer to my query only sidestepping and bs) or Telkom.
 
AVG hasn't be relevant since about 2006. It's now all about Avast!, Avira Free (formerly AntiVir Classic) and for those who don't really care what their AV does there's MSE. AVG and it's bloat can go to hell.
