Telkom is completely dead for me. (Kzn region) Happened about 15min ago, reset router, checked usage, all checks out and had to switch to temp Afihost acc.... Hmmm

Same here in rainy Stanger, KZN. Checked my usage and only 100KB used after 12am :p. Tried to authenticate and it doesn't work so using my trusty AH MiFi modem :D. Line is synched but no authentication, this mean something about the RADiUS server borked this side of the country? OMG!! maybe we getting 40Mbps .......sigh...someone reply to me if this is still happening :O next year...via PM. Also will get a capped account now that iTunes Games are being rolled out locally. Hope to see the community grow. Ti capped > allday MP action from any Smart device all month :)

Will be keeping an eye on this thread until we hear some feedback. :) besides tonight, last few months have been nothing but FUNtastic ;-)

Something odd happening, scheduled early morning torrents seem to have lurched into life after a slow start.

TI mail servers seem to have been down since before midnight.

Internet is back up , thank you Telkom techies :). Around 03:40am it seems to have worked which kinda looks right from MickZA's graph.

Telkom is taking a big hit somewhere or another. The service lately is definetly a new low after being so solid the last few months. Sadly I am still in for 6 months worth of contract. Sigh. I cannot see why I have to be shaped after hours on HTTP downloads and everything else for that matter, with usages of 40gb on a 4mb uncapped line over a period of 17 days. Seems capped data with afrihost or alike is the only way forward.

As I've said before.
It sucks but this is clearly not the experience many of us are having.
Nothing but smooth sailing here.

What is up with the latency?
Radio streaming does not work either?

I would say if you haven't already, give some traceroutes to a couple of sites to EU, US, local and anything else that you noticed with speed decreases to TelkomZA and ask him to check things out. He might even give a test account to see how things go. So many factors can play a role as to why you are experiencing this so best is to start with the obvious and work from there.

Patience and time which i know you may not have alot of will be key to figuring out what is causing this.

Keep us posted on the progress please :)

What was going on yesterday in Westville, Durban, KZN? Perfect connection according to router but still no net from 20 minutes before midnight or so till it was back this morning.

Thanks for the kind words of advice. And some sanity to aid in my depression.

However, like I stated. If i log onto my capped 10gb Afrihost account I get full line speed on the same Unity3D 881mb HTTP download. So its not that I am experiencing congestion, or that my pc is doing something else. I get slighly uncomfortable if there are things Telkom can tamper with in terms of my account which miraculously make it consistant again. I moved from Openweb for this exact reason. And for months its been fine and I have been selling and singing Telkoms praises. It is now suddenly the last month, that streams are choppy, download speeds are slow. It's not as consistent as it use to be. I find myself changing to afrihost more than I would like. The only thing I can think is that the bandwidth allocation to my area (Bellville/Durbanville) is not what it should be. This was a problem 4 months ago which Ranger resolved. I get the feeling its creeped up again. However, I don't see anyone from Telkom disputing this or not.

Just started some soaps and it looks fine here in PE, mail server has finally delivered all lasts TI usage reports (they dribbled in mixed with todays mail).

All good in Durban too, started up Tomorrow People E01 n E02, fluctuating between 180 - 200kbps.
80% account speed is good enough for me

Dunno but I think it was most of kzn, experienced the same thing up here on the coast.

We have been very busy the past week, will provide some updates and try to reply to to all PMs tonight.

Note there is maintenance tonight from midnight that may impact services imcluding adsl authemtication, but existing conectioms should not be impacted.

Edit: We also received a notifocation of emergency maintenance on one of our IPC links for tonight for approx 15 minutes between 22h00 and 00h00. We have sufficient IPC capacity that if failover works correctly (which can take a few minutes) there should be minimal impact. However, some changes were made on our IPC configuration by Wholesale last week, and failover has not yet been tested for our Gauteng site since then.
