Thanks MickeyD, always appreciate the help you give. i will give them a call tomorrow or Monday.
Is there a crackle on your line when you make a call? If so, dial 10210 while it is noisy and tell them to fix the voice portion of your line as well. If you don't they will do a remote test and clear your fault without dispatching a techie.

This is now really getting very ridiculous. Seems like Telkom's ADSL also hits peak traffic.

Everyday from around 18H30 to around 21H00 the service is so to say dead. Every weekend its either completely dead and or so bloody slow that I keep on switching to my Cell C for connectivity. During the week it runs like the clappers but this is just getting to frustrating.

4Meg line speed test

Last Result:
Download Speed: 534 kbps (66.8 KB/sec transfer rate) Running at a full 13% of max
Upload Speed: 337 kbps (42.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 43 ms

Telkom isp is dead in Balliito (NBTV which hangs of the NPHX Phoenix DSSU), I get an IP assigned but zero traffic. Using gamco at the moment.

Didnt you know? 6pm til 12 you can't use the line because it's busy with something else. I have the same problem. Weekends are hit and miss, sometimes you get lucky.

Definitely issues with 4Mb uncapped this morning, downloads & streaming, when I switch to TI capped "normal service is resumed".

anyone else getting high latency? I'm trying to play call of duty or battlefield and im getting really high ping? But this only happens at about 6.30pm and after? Can anyone help or tell me if there is a problem?

I asked if they could do a test on my number and they just say; DN not found on their end. So how can I report the crackle on my line too?

I have been doing my torrent downloads from 24:00 to 06:00, which has been working great.

However, I just tried to get a torrent, and they are extremely slow, even with tens of thousands of seeds.

Is this expected behaviour?

Not for me, but Ranger did mention that Sundays are one if the busiest days. Maybe is shaped? Overall you can download and expext line speed at any time. Sometimes it does take 5 - 10 minutes to achieve it.

Been like that the whole weekend. I'm not sure if my exchange is congested or not but seems my 4MB line is getting slower by the day.

Anyone getting Authentication Fail?

Maybe this post still form part of the problem. It was posted on Friday though.
We have been very busy the past week, will provide some updates and try to reply to to all PMs tonight.

Note there is maintenance tonight from midnight that may impact services imcluding adsl authemtication, but existing conectioms should not be impacted.

Edit: We also received a notifocation of emergency maintenance on one of our IPC links for tonight for approx 15 minutes between 22h00 and 00h00. We have sufficient IPC capacity that if failover works correctly (which can take a few minutes) there should be minimal impact. However, some changes were made on our IPC configuration by Wholesale last week, and failover has not yet been tested for our Gauteng site since then.

Is it normal for the IP to stay the same even after disconnecting and reconnecting?

I think it can be, especially if it is a quick turn around.

If you switch off router and maybe unplug power source and wait for a minute or so, you should see a new IP issued.

Yes, torrents only work properly between 2400 and 0600

630pm to midnight is the Telkom Internet dead zone, be grateful if it connects at this time.
