How's your torrent speeds between midnight and 6am?So torrents are dead for me. Could only get good speeds on the day the account was activated. Everything else flies. I mostly use NNTP but I need the odd torrent for really old stuff.
My second month is almost done and i've done 150gb so far on a 1MB line.
First month I did 160gb.
Speed has been inconsistent after around 130gb (I'm guessing that's when Telkom's shaping policy kicks in) but still downloads work fine after 11pm but not at full speed (roughly around 60-75Kb).
All in all I'm very happy with TI as my ISP of choice.![]()

torrents + Telkom Internet = taboo. Only time torrents are even remotely possible is between midnight and 6AM.
I don't mind torrents being shaped (personally). What pisses me off is that the BF4 preload is also shaped before midnight. On slower connections, 25GB is a lot to download if you only have 6 hours a night to work with until Friday.
Strange - 08:30 and torrents are running at my limit of 185kB/s as usual, turn the limiter off and I get full line speed (4mbs uncapped).torrents + Telkom Internet = taboo. Only time torrents are even remotely possible is between midnight and 6AM.
BF4 downloaded at between 35kbps en 75kbps last night, which isn't terrible in principle. For a BF4 preload that was unacceptably low thoughYou need to define your definition of shaping. As being totally cut off or downloading at speeds of 5 kilobytes per second on a 1MB line is NOT shaping. It is the same as being cut off. And that is what Telkom does. I remember in my second month of being with Telkom my torrent downloads speeds were cut in half. I got about 45 kilobytes per second. Now that was shaping.![]()
Now there's a thoughtMaybe half of Uitenhage's routers blew last night after the moerse storm.

Have to say the thunder and lightning was impressive here in the Western Suburbs, I believe there was heavy rain as well in PE Central.
Downloaded a NVidia driver last night. 10kbps or so on a 120mb download. Painful as hell.
Is this normal shaping?
