My line shows 4mb from 2mb but my speedtest still shows what it use to before the telkom upgrade. What gives?

Hey Guy's...

Same here.

I have a 10mb/s line and my international browsing is really ridiculous. I'm on the Telkom Premium 10mb/s product.

I'm in Randburg with a vdsl exchange.
I stream Netflix and I get low quality if I'm lucky. The local speedtest yields 8.9mb/s but a speedtest to an international server in the USA gives me 1.5mb/s and over 500ms ping.

I don't download p2p and I watch Netflix for maybe 3 hours a day.

I'm paying over a grand for this service and I'm getting worse quality than what I got when I was on Mweb's 2mb/s line.

Hi,

What are speeds like? I see I can do 4Mbps uncapped bundle (line + bandwidth) for R548, this is cheaper than even the new Afrihost pricing...

I mainly use my connection for NZB's / General browsing / Netflix and some light gaming.

Any input?

Thanks,

It's all discussed in the thread.
For your needs it will be perfect.

Thanks Electric,

Any chance they provide trial account?

I'm hesitant to move both my LINE and bandwidth over, unless I know its solid...

No trial accounts unfortunately.

I've been running my business on 4Mb Uncapped since March this year moving an average of 300GB/mth without hassles but I'm not into gaming, Netflix or 24/7 downloading. Prior to February I had a TI 2Mb Uncapped account for after hours but used TI capped for business, since February TI have improved their Uncapped QoS to the point that my capped account is redundant.

If you're on a stable line and uncongested exchange I reckon TI Uncapped is as solid as any other ISPs offering.

I currently have 4MB uncapped account on a 10MB line - it costs around R700 (with Telkom, and the line discount thing)

How much will it cost if I move to 10MB uncapped? Apparently the website is wrong.

Anybody experiencing high ping lately? I want to play league of legends ( euw server) but my ping I constantly 700. The worst part is its jump around between 300 – 700 but most of the time it is above 600. I still have like 10gigs of cap left.

International has gone to the dogs, getting <1Meg to the US on 10Meg Uncapped.

Afrihost capped on MTN backbone working perfectly.

This after 5 days of perfect performance.

Sigh.

The adsl checker website saying:"Maximum speed available in your area 2mb Your Current Service speed 2mb", but i do a speed test i only get 0.85mb. Should i get closer too 2mb?

It's supposed to be R574/mth but some discounts are being dropped/changed, I should have a better idea tomorrow when I get my Dec account.

Thats what I'm trying to figure out, a friend showed me a print out where it says it'll be R699 incl line rental for 10MB uncapped.
Extract from Dec pricing mail:

Dec-Bundles.jpg

... AFAIK this pricing excludes discounts which have supposedly changed.

Tx - thats exactly what he had, except internet speed was also 10MB on the 4MB one, and the price was 699 as it was on the left. (told him I think its a misprint, because the Premium Plus was exactly the same for R300 more)

Can't recall the discount, but I'm assuming 10MB would be around R850-900, wondering if it'll be worth it...

Anyone on 10MB getting 10MB? I consistently get 450KB/s downloads, but find TV streaming a bit slow at times.
