Yip - nothing works properly, I've actually given up on trying to stream anything - back to 1995 internet where all you could do was read, and wait for pictures to load.
 
Thinks back to worse.

Same London speediest from before 7am this morning (Netcetera server): Throttled to hell and back again.

7:00am - 203ms ping and 6.47Mbit speeds, now down to this:
9:30am - 656ms ping and 0.6 Mbit speeds: View attachment 93325

Telkom Internet is broken.

How do you explain this, Ranger ?

I'm telling you it's congestion on exchange....I've swapped to afrihost and Webafrica and i get the same #$!@#t
 
I'm on day 4 of no internet whatsoever. I've been promised a technician will come out since Monday morning, nothing. Tried everything from threatening to cancel, to pleading, to asking nicely, to shouting and their call center operators just couldn't give a ****.

I've just tried speedtest now to London (Netcetera) and it's flying: 156ms ping and 6Mbit download speed - 3232865625.png

Sorry, Telkom Internet is royally and utterly F%#$#%'ed.

No truer words have been spoken.Yet Telkom refuses to acknowledge that they don't know what the f...ck is wrong.

Have you tried running a tracert to www.saix.net this might give you an indication on whether or not it could be congestion, if your 3rd hop is more that 100ms [from what i understand] then you looking at congestion exchange... But, if like a lot of people are reporting having issues with TI lines right now, the results might not be all that awesome...

Also streaming quality on Netflix / Hulu has dramatically decreased on my 2 meg line...buffer...buffer....buffer

I also have a no go with Netflix, Hulu or Vudu!!! And I mainly use my internet for video streaming and the service of Telkom is pathetic!!!

This is the case when they start shaping the protocols to prevent latency from spiking. I said it before and I will say it again, this has nothing to do with bad international links (I'm not routed via Telia and still suffer the same symptoms). It is plain and simple just a lack of international capacity, particularly in the Gauteng area.

This is going to get worse before it gets better due another cycle of line upgrades...

At least I have received a rebate for the crappy service I got between 19 December and 30 December, so I guess it's time that I pay up now as the current problem has not been resolved yet which makes calculating the rebate impossible.

Decided to cancel and go for Afrihost instead, getting a constant 430kbps and 170ms internationally.

I understand that these issues happen from time to time, but the way Telkom has handled it is completely unacceptable. I'd rather hand over my hard earned cash to an ISP that has astounding service if I ever need it and welcomes your business, than one where I have to beg, plead and do the troubleshooting for them just to be told that there isn't an issue and I must go somewhere else if I'm unhappy.

Good luck to you guys sticking it out! Hope it comes right soon, but this was just the last straw for me.
