Telkom Internet Uncapped User Feedback.

I have been monitoring this thread for sometime and it is pretty obvious that something is very wrong with Telkom at the moment but nobody from Telkom appears to be prepared to acknowledge "the obvious" and advise their clients as to when we are likely to see some improvement and that is what is frustrating everyone. We are all hoping that within a week or two the problems will be solved and we will be back to normal but without any acknowledgement that there is a major problem perhaps no-one is attempting to rectify and this situation will persist much longer than we anticipate. I hope not of course.

It's already persisted for a month...

I can do local browsing again. Hallelujah. International still ****ed.

You should see the vitriol on Telkom's Facebook page. There is clearly something terribly wrong. This has persisted for a month. When are they going to fix it? Surely some people need to be fired...

Got home at 3 this afternoon and everything was working great. At 6pm i tried my luck at playing Ghost online and everything was dead again.

Tested my 56k dial

Here's mine on TI 10MB uncapped premium account (the test was to international but so what, I want to consume international content, not News24):

And it's consistently like that every night.

All I'm trying to do is stream a bit of iTunes Radio - normally it needs about 92 - 128kbps connection but it buffers for 5 minutes, then plays for 10 seconds. For the past 3 weeks.

Can anyone tell me if it's better on Afrihost, M-Web? Or is it the entire ADSL network in general?

My backup Afrihost capped account flies. Definitely TI unfortunately.

It's just TI judging from feedback on this thread.

Romito / Cassidy - should I get business or consumer uncapped from Afrihost?

Any class would be far better than TI at the moment, even 384kbps. On a serious note business will get your better contention ratios hence consintently higher speeds during peak than consumer.

And Netflix / Hulu - will that also be better on a business acc? I don't mind paying more - just have an absolute pet hate for buffering issues.

The ISP's give priority to browsing, streaming, http traffic etc.. so streaming should be flawless on a business account.

Telkom is broken and by the looks of things they don't know themselves how to fix it.

Besides for the fact that my dsl line is not syncing at all since last night, after having several faults logged( and by that i mean 4-5 faults logged over the past 3 months) and sending this very message off my phone, the speeds have not only been dismal the last month as some people have noted, but based on my experience and this thread speeds have been dismal in the cape town area for almost 6 months. Endless complains that amount to nothing. In 10 pages of thread the only comment Ranger has left is 'speeds of what?'. Now i know a guy is busy. Dahm, i am busy. I just ended coding a 15 hour day. I know what it feels like to have to work. But just one constructive post highlighting what is actually going on at Telkom and what we can expect for the future in terms of changes/improvements will go a long way. I am sure, and like many dont expect constant 24/7 updates but just give us something. Or atleast give the rest of the Telkom internet subscribers something because i will be cancelling my subscription due to the last 6 months of delayed promises and non delivery of adequate 'paid for' service levels. :(
