Telkom Internet Uncapped User Feedback.

So, Telkom announced some very competitive new pricing for its uncapped. I take it this thread being so quiet implies that it's all smooth sailing?

Only issue free ISP I've had. I get full speed 24/7.

MWEB was just useless, and Openweb kept blaming my line, or some other excuse when my account crawled.

Okay, so I joined the uncapped bandwagon this morning.
This is not a moan post, although I have very little to be happy about.

I sort of hope that someone can help or give advice.

Since September 2012 my once great line dropped from 3.25 Mpbs to about 0.8 Mbps on average.
I'm about 900 meter from the exchange.
Latency:
Local: 227ms avg
International: 413ms avg

I tested with another uncapped account over the weekend and local latency was about the same, but Intl was down to 313 ms avg.

I'm not huge into torrents and stuff, but do download a lot of drivers and apps.
I also play online gaming via PS3 and the high latency is killing me in FPS games.
I'm also very involved with GT5 and the line quality is making it very difficult for me.

I watch a lot of Supersport streaming and YouTube videos.

My current experience.:
I can watch 3 seconds of Youtube and then wait 39 seconds for buffering
Could not connect to SS for the cricket game this morning.

With the other test account I had no issues with either of those.

I've logged countless faults, but I'm told my line is working 100%

Any help?

RoMark.

Exchange congestion could also be a factor. Are these high pings 24/7 or at certain times of the day?

Seems so.
Latency does not change and speeds do improve a bit in very early morning hours but does not seem to change week or weekends

iirc he is in Kirkwood... should be no congestion.
That is what I also thought, but we have some guys selling Wireless and they have several 4Mbps line(10 or more.)
Not sure if that would lead to congestion on our exchange.
I would defer to your expertise though.
:)

I've had the Telkom techies out several times and they really tried hard, but it just don't get sorted. They have taken one of their laptop with my account details and plugged in at the exchange and got the same stats which I posted.

I do have a fault open atm after several HelloPeter complaints as they were closing the faults one after the other without actually fixing the problem.
They told me weeks ago that it was escalated to the networking experts and that they would phone me. No phone call so far.

I had such a great line before and overnight it went all wrong.

I'm currently on DO2 ( 2meg line with 10GB international data), does anyone think its worth the move to the 2Meg uncapped? MWEB is trying to make a huge deal about the throttling in the Telkom AUP.

@Ghost02
As per Telkom, the rolling windows will be opened from 1 Feb
@MWEB
Your move........

I moved over to Uncapped on Monday. This morning, after a couple of big PS3 game downloads, I'm capped.
I've spend over 2 hours on the phone to get this sorted, but no luck.
Apparently the 20 GB haven't been removed although the account indicates that is uncapped and so far nobody have been able to do it.

Ref: 551282247

Can a Telkom representative maybe help?

Edit:
I've now been told that it has been forwarded to an Administrator and that I will need to wait 12 to 24 hours to fix to problem.

Really?

Stab in the dark, did you receive an SMS with a new login & password or did they convert your old 20GB account? (I'm not sure if they can convert capped to uncapped).

I did receive a new password and it was implemented.
Not sure how they changed from Capped to uncapped, but my service has been restored now as I post this.

Thx for the reply
:)

Morning guys.

AS I mentioned a bit earlier in the week, I moved to uncapped on Monday.
This morning I realized that my IP has changed to the 105 range.
Speeds are looking good and my Ping has dropped, but is still dismally high.(from 413 ms to 375 ms)

My question though, when I try to stream Supersport I get a message

Sorry, this live video stream is not available in your country.

I've never seen this.
Is this normal?
