Telkom is killing itself

I've been trying to get a home loan. Telkom failed to up my debit order, so unknown to me I ran into arrears.
Now the bank wants a letter from Telkom saying my account is paid up to date.....yeah right. I've been trying for 3 weeks to get said letter. I even went into a store, but they couldn't help me.

Now I'm trying to cancel my Telkom...I guess I'm fooked.

My Mom is 78 and only earns a goverment grant monthly. She has a 20gb smartbroadband contract with Telkom. They charge her R463 a month for it, ive been trying for a year and a half to get them to reduce the amount as they have specials that cost half that amount all the time, they dont even reply to comment or nothing... They are absolutely useless. Its a disgrace that they sold her that package in the first place. I dont know what to do anymore.

Strangely, it would seem from this article that at least 274000 people DID manage to cancel their adsl line in the last year....

I am one of those that will NEVER do business with Telkom again. After so many years of bad service I have just given up... I had to install my own ADSL line... NO JOKE! The technician left a spindle of wire at my house and I did my own installation! He returned a week later just to connect the two ends of the wire! That is the type of service you can expect!

Complain about a problem and they just do NOTHING! Later you learn that the technician was at your house, but no one was home... But the fact is that I work from home... I am always here! So where was he that I was not here! Pathetic!

Cancel your contract and you wait MONTHS for them to stop the withdrawals from your bank account! I actually had to cancel my LTE service TWICE! The person who apparently helped me the first time, did not do the job properly!

I just got FED UP! Why should anyone invest hard earned money into a company where you get that kind of service! The same with the post office. I will rather pay R100 for a courier to bring my R40 purchase to my door than use the Post Office and wait three months for delivery!

Bad Service should not be rewarded!

That’s a violation of the national credit act, so you can report to the NCA and Telkom will be fined.

Yesterday I was on hold for an hour, waiting for an operator to let me know what's taking telkom so long to get to my house to install an ADSL line which I applied for on the 29th ov January... Eventually when I got through to someone, they told me that my application was canceled on the 31st ov January, and they didn't even bother phoning me or emailing me or anything

I struggled to cancel a 24 month contract for a tablet with Telkom. They continued billing me for a 1Gb data bundle even though I had given them notice to stop 2 months prior to the end date. I did it online, received a confirmation of cancellation - did not get cancelled. Took the cancellation number to a store, had to redo it manually - still did not happen. Had to go into a store again and they completed it for me on their system. Almost 4 months later, they eventually cancelled it, but still charged me for that time.

This was my 2nd bad experience with cancelling a contract at Telkom.

NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I USE TELKOM!!!:mad::mad:

Could not have happend to a better company. I almost enjoy this but we all know that the top management will just go on with the lives and the workers will suffer in the end. Probably job cuts gonna happen in the end

We've dealt with Amdocs when working for Telkom. Stuff like "There is a security flaw on your website, if you right click on the page you can view the source code of the site". I don't understand how Telkom still uses amdocs, its quite scary.

We eventually lost the contract to some other incompetent supplier.
What services were you providing???

Been trying since May 2018 to cancel my ADSL with them. Eventually in November 2018 they stopped billing me only to realise I overpaid and they owe me a R700 refund. Then suddenly in January 2019 I got another bill for around R200 so refund is now R500. It is closing in on a year now that I have tried getting this resolved. and still no joy.

Have decided that if it is not resolved by the end of April that I am opening fraud charges and then suing for my lost time. perhaps if I go after their directors it might end up being resolved.

I have been trying to cancel a contract I have never used for the past 6months but i am still being bill. Never opened it, returned it sealed never activated the sim, no outlet say they can help because I had ordered it online. Got a message saying that the call i logged was successful. When i tried applying for financing beginning of the year I was denied because I owe telkom, apparently the call I had logged was/is on "back order" for a lack of a better word.

You can try to dispute the bad credit report listing with the Credit Bureaus, with any proof of cancellation you have. They will likely not get any positive feedback from Telkom and remove the negative listing. Can take a while though.

Any advice as to how I can cancel Telkom? I've tried the online thing, they've called me twice to confirm it and it was supposed to cancel today and I was supposed to get a pro rata billing, but NNOOOO, got an invoice today and it's for another full month. I don't have the money for this BS. Pls send help.

One method some have used:

Just stop paying. Keep eye on Credit Bureaus and your credit profile. Dispute negative listings providing your proof of cancellations, Telkom won't respond or won't respond satisfactorily and it will be removed (might take a couple of months). Obviously you might no be able to use Telkom products again if it's not sorted with Telkom itself, because they will have your listed internally.

I can't just stop paying because they forced me to get a debit order when I got the line.
