I doubt they will just dissapear. Problem is, as per usual will gov allow it to happen and cash up? If its a clean break we could see big changes. I wonder if new owner will sell LL back to gov/municpality would be a good ploy to cut costs
 
Good news indeed, but I doubt that Gov will allow Telscum to sink. Do not forget that 38% makes a nice 13th cheque, and why would they give it up... Gov wants control, and is in my opinion, resposible for the telecoms mess we find ourselves in. They could have changed the way Telkom rips off the SA public, but apparently decided to keep quiet and welcome the nice payouts.
 
If Telkom goes down, then we left with a monopoly again that barely exists... I for one hope they don't sink, as judging how long it IS taking Neotel to get a float, who wants to go through that again!

We dont want Telkom to die and be left again with only one operator namely Neotel. Otherwise we have another monopoly.

Keep Telscum on a drip just to keep competition in the market.
Neotel is not viable for me till they offer me a physical line.

We can still sit around a fire and laugh at telkom and p$ss on its near death corpse!

I tend to agree, they will only further evolve to become the beast of a devil itself. While the rulers of this helhole get the high percentage of profits they steal of us there will be no end in sight.
 
Assets will be sold off and the firm will be split up into a million BEE pieces... and we will all live happily ever after... And we have no more need for ICASA, and Government decide to give up controlling telecoms...

erm, has this lack of understanding been exactly the goverment's problem up to now? since when have they come to 'understand the business'?
 
Telkom is just a symptom of the actual problem. Telkom splitting up/going out of business won't solve anything until the root problem is dealt with.
 
I'm glad they're going down which they should've long ago. Though if they go down, so does our net, so..I hate Telkom but love the internet..
