Hey Guys

So I have a contract currently with TelkomISP running on Openserv Fibre in Durban North. My currently have their 40Meg Line option.

The past few days as soon as we enter into the early evening my line speed and latency drops severely.

When I test my line in the morning / majority of the day my latency is sub 10 to local servers and my speed in indeed 40 meg.

I have attached my latest speedtest results as of 17:05.

Telkom help desk is of no use , they try reset the line which achieves nothing.

My feeling is that this issue is ISP based ... would that be a safe assumption ? Is it worth migrating to another ISP ?

Thanks !

Regards

Can I give you a test account :)

Have the same issue in pretoria, 200 meg line running at 10 meg after 5 in the evening. Got an opeserve test account today to test, and that remains fast. Is definitely a telkom ISP issue

Have the same problem with Telkom in PTA. Wonder if it will ever get fixed

Update on this issue -----
Telkom gave me a test account to use, the username contained openserv as part of the login.

Tested it ... it's perfect. Go back to my original Telkom account ... terrible.

Clearly an issue with the Telkom ISP... Are there any Telkom eyes that monitor these forums ?

It's the universe telling you to cancel.

nice.... 5k of meaningless posts to get executive troll membership

great help you are on mbb forums

Wow the hostility. Relax.... Realistically what answer did you want? There is zero trace routes to help any way no speedtests no investigation or anything from your side and even if the Rep was still on the forum what would be the difference compared to 10210?

Post a trace route to see where the latency is happing. If it's happening on the 2nd/3rd hop the it's likely IPC capacity related which is it very likely is. Just like other ISP's Telkom need to apply/buy more IPC capacity from Openserve and wait for Openserve to install that capacity. Just because Openserve and Telkom is the same company they have to follow the rules as silly as it sounds but that is just how it is.

So from your side test with another adsl account and see how it performs on the line. If it's fine then you know Telkom ISP and then it's basically just a waiting game and it's a pity that @ranger left Telkom because he could have actually looked into it for you and reported back.

Well you must here to help defend the executive troll member?

If you look properly, Gty post that Telkom gave him a test account and asked if there was a Telkom user on here to assist with the problem. And mr troll took it upon himself to be sarcastic and useless.

As for my problem, well yes I didn't post trace routes and blah blah...
Oh and if you look more carefully I post the Telkom user that helps people from time to time..

I have seen a few people bitching and moaning about similar issues on facebook. On the surface it looks like their peering is congested probably because they static everything...

@GTY Any improvement in Telkom service? Also experiencing similar slower performance in the area as well as telkom dynamic DNS not working. Was hoping it would be fixed as part of mail service disruption they messaged about. But unfortunately no luck.

Getting the same slow speed from Friday evening, logged a call today, right now at 3.86Mbps :( After 23h00, speed is back to normal

This was past 23h00 yesterday, going to try it today again after 23h00. I did get a sms to reply if I have network issues. As an issue was identified.
