Hi,

The Telkom L2TP server, which terminates L2TP sessions for allocating static IPs to business clients, seems to be either down or experiencing very high amounts of packet-loss from Telkom fibre lines. The server has an IP of 105.225.0.101.

The packet-loss towards this server started a few days ago, but is now completely dead (i.e. not accepting new L2TP sessions).

Normal Telkom Business support has no idea how this works or who I can speak to. Anybody have any alternate contact details other than 10217?

Well, just as an update to nobody in particular: the situation eventually resolved itself, i.e. after 10 days of packet-loss and a worthless static IP block, it was fixed (or it came right and might just break again on its own).

The clincher though: Telkom contacted me today, saying they're sorry for the delay, but they need my telephone number in order to trouble-shoot my ADSL problem. Yep, go figure. Very few people at Telkom actually seem to know what's going on. It's heartbreaking, somehow.
