Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Can MyBB possibly reach out to somebody @Telkom that is involved in the setup/distr of the LIT Box, and try and get some official involvement in our endeavor here to actually assist current and potential buyers.

Would like to hear about timelines for "actual" official app releases and whtnot.

Me too.

Just curious. It looks like 3.5mm ... I just didn't know it did video
It looks like the old school composite cable plug...stereo audio- yellow and red plugs and video plug (yellow). Check the manual paper that came with it.

Where can I find stock of the Telkom LIT Box as nobody seems to be answering the phone or has stock?

Good luck getting through to ANY Telkom store. Your best bet is to put a morning aside and go from store to store. Needs to have a blue sleeve over the box stating v7.1.2

I don't think so - those are RCA and require a minimum of two (audio and video).

This looks like a 3.5mm (stereo that can carry mono audio and video?)

I'll try read up

How does the casting work? I tried the casting last night from the latest ver of Google Chrome 61.0.3163.100 64-bit and I was quite impressed. To me, it seems more responsive than a google chromecast, but that could just be the extra CPU and GPU power this box has over a CC. Over a wireless connection I had no issues with quality, connectivity, stuttering whatsoever. I streamed DSTV Now website in 720p for over an hour without issue. One thing I did notice was that when I tried to cast from Netflix, the box would attempt to stream but would not no matter what I tried. I could select the user profile, but that is as far as it got. It would get stuck on the loading screen.

Note: Casting is a great alternative to having to side-load the DSTV Now app. You simply open the website on your PC, and cast that tab to your box. I will be using this for the Sport until such time official support is provided by Telkom.

You get a 3.5mm video composite that you used to be able to plug into camera's, but that would have 1 x yellow RCA to plug into the TV and the other end into the camera. No idea what this guy is for, will also do some reading up

I have the same issue with Netflix, anybody able to fix this?

Interestingly, I side loaded DStv Now v 1.32.2 on the box and it works with HD quality and no dimming. When I select the channel, it automatically goes full screen. It also shows up in the apps row on the home screen and can be launched from there. Only issue is the screen saver comes on after 2 hours.

Dstv Now app : under Settings - Live Streaming Timeout - set it to disabled.
