Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

While on it - Dstv Now app - under Settings there is a Maximum Video Quality option as well. Just saying.

Interestingly, I side loaded DStv Now v 1.32.2 on the box and it works with HD quality and no dimming. When I select the channel, it automatically goes full screen. It also shows up in the apps row on the home screen and can be launched from there. Only issue is the screen saver comes on after 2 hours.

hmmm... very interesting indeed. Please confirm you running 7.1.2? Have you done any updates on the box at all?

it seems to differ from version to version, as that seems to specific to the quality when you download content for offline viewing

Guys (and girls?) - What other apps have you loaded onto your Lit Box?
I would like to hear what other apps (sideloaded or Android TV specific) are nice to use on this device - and can benefit a media player like this.

Besides the previously mentioned apps like DSTV NOW, Kodi, Netflix, Showmax I am also using:

Streaming media apps
Terrarium TV - This is my new favourite. I prefer this over Kodi with Covenant add-on. Much quicker and easier. Most of the streams are HD and playing smoothly on my 4MB ADSL. Love it. Wife loves it as well.
Popcorn Time - Now uninstalled - UI Looks good - but streams from P2P torrents and slower than Terrarium.

File management apps
Superbeam - This app allows you to send files from your phone (with Superbeam loaded) via your home network to your device. Quick and easy.
Google Drive & Dropbox - Well we all know these ones. :) Cloud storage. Access your files from anywhere. Even your Lit box.

Remote apps - install on your cellphone:
Android TV - Remote control for all Android TV functions. Incl mouse and keyboard functionalities.
Kore - Kodi specific remote app. Great for tv/movie playback controls.
Cetusplay - A replacement app for overall android TV control. Looks quite polished. Need to spend more time with it to see what it offers.

I know the " Live Streaming Timeout " default setting of 2 hours has caught a lot of people in the past , previous versions other than the newest available.

One has to scroll down quite far to see it. My version that gets cast from a cheap phone ( that functions as a remote and app/apk cast player only ) to a Chromecast runs is version 1.40.4 - 213014004

thanks for this, definitely going to take a look at that Terrarium TV

I'm still looking for an app that can monitor data usage, nothing yet. All seem to only log "mobile data" wifi, which doesnt help me.

Can you confirm, does Terrarium need to be side-loaded?

ok thought so. I've seen these settings in the later versions, but not in 1.32.2

regardless, from what I recall it's specific to downloaded content and not live TV

Can one link your trakt account to Terrarium TV? If not its a no go from me...

Guys - can you pause your Netflix ?

Yes it has to, it's not available on any version of the play store.

Picked up one of these. It seems the remote is rather cheaply built and designed and does not have the voice search feature.

I can do voice search using my phone. Will play around with it some more of the course of the week.!

Have kodi and Netflix working
