Thanks.

Did not expect Tyger Valley to have any - and confirmed then.Thought Cape Gate might be the better bet between the two with Durbanville basically with full-on fibre coverage now etc.

Joosd , that is supposed to show a dimmed effect or ? Interface looks cool - I should do casting from a tablet or get the LIT Box.

If you side load 1.40.5 on the LIT Box, i did it when i got it 2 weeks back, it is the same interface as on mobile devices, but like most people said, live tv is in SD quality , but it is bright. If you load 1.32.4, you do get HD quality, but it seems the same problem persists now in update version 1.40.6. All side loaded

Tried to get one at Blue Route on the weekend but they said they had a problem loading the stock on their system. One of the consultants were meant to call me once it was sorted but no call yet. Will go back on the weekend and see if I can get one.

Seems like a relatively small batch that was available from the get go. Not a very confident product launch for Telkom. Native app support is needed for it to be a realistic mass sell without returns.

@ Ricebowl - think somebody misunderstood your post - you have a MyGica ? MyGica runs on normal Android and has access to the whole of the normal Play Store and is not running on Android TV. Android TV has a depleted Play Store - only apps that are optimised for TV with an easy to use remote experience are to be found in it generally.
No I do not, I am looking to add the Telkom Lit Box to our home media setup, we cut the cord with monochoice beginning of 2016, this box will belong in the lounge where we stream Netflix, Showmax, Kodi, YouTube and Plex any recommendations on what I should get?

Is this to purchase it cash or contract?

I had a ps3 which I sold thinking I was going to pick up the Telkom box that morning, so atm I am using a laptop running in tablet mode. I work for a retail electronics store so the Mygica and Kwese are not foreign to me.

MyGica is a good option.

Everything is about certification when using apps such as Netflix.

That is why something like a GOOGLE Chromecast works so good. For an on-screen experience with certification and future proof probably - Android TV operating system ( native casting as a bonus included )

Best out there - Nvidia Shield.
Xiaomi Mi Box - next best thing.
Telkom LIT box - not supporting what it is supposed to.

Looking at your requirements @Ricebowl - currently - honestly - I would go for a Mi Box.

Just remember not all Android apps which are side loaded work perfectly on Android TV boxes or for that matter Amazon Fire TVs

Thanks for breaking it down for me, the Xiaomi box would be the best imo especially when taking price into consideration but wouldn't it be better to get the Telkom box since it was just released, I know a lot of things that were promised is not working correctly but isn't it a bit premature to give up? What other advantages does the Xiaomi Mi Box have over the Lit Box I thought they were identical in terms of hardware components?

The Telkom Lit Box is not currently as smooth as it should be - a lot of tinkering needed etc and still not up to speed when it comes to the Mi Box when using an app as Netflix.Use of Dstv Now seems similar to the Mi Box experience and Multichoice is to be blamed.

Myself - only use Dstv Now(Showmax available) , and then " Apks "and Kodi another option if wanted to - for this type of use a MyGica would actually work better than Android TV operating system.

But I like the casting function and an all-in-one setup that Android TV provides with native casting.

Not sure if the 'MIC ' search function on Mi Box works. Pretty sure it doesn't on LIT Box.

Do you think Telkom is using the lack of stock as a tactic to buy them time? It kind of makes sense so they don't make themselves look silly as if they rushed this product so it could be released in time for the Kwese player. I would probably sideload Showbox or Terrarium TV.
